If you go to Niagara falls and you want to cross over to the Canadian side to go on some of the attractions there, you can park on the American side and walk across the border crossing. They have a station where you show your passport/ I.D on both sides of the border.

yes, you can walk across any border but they search you and you have to have id.

You can walk across the bridge, so I'd guess that you can go through customs (it costs 50 cents to walk across)

I used to live in Buffalo, NY before 1977 and my friend and I lived right behind the Peace Bridge on the west side of Buffalo.
We used to walk accross all the time to get to Canada.
Now you need a passport to go to any country so it is not so easy.

You have to have a passport to cross the border into Canada from the US side now. Believe me, I tried it without. So, if you are from the US, be sure to take your ID with you. Not sure if you can cross with just a Drivers Liscense or not.
