1200 will be enough if you don't splurge and are a good saver. Rent just went up in the last year but you can still find a cheap place but it may not be the life of luxury. Finding a roommate might make it easier, you may be able to share for 400 or 500 a month. Determine how much you need for food, clothing, apartment supplies, etc. and go from there. Check out rentfaster.ca and see what apartments are available and if you can afford it. Good luck!

try looking for shared accomadations in apartments that supply all the utilities good luck though because that isnt a whole lot of money you may want to deliver newspapers because for only 3 hous of your time in the morning could earn you an additional 1100/month something to consider any way.

If you live at the drop-in centre, or under the bridge.and eat at the soup kithen and mustard seed, then ya MAYBE.

angel09
Nope, that will pay for your rent only...

You will probably need to find a room-mate. Rent is very expensive in Calgary, and you need to budget at least $200/mo on food, and probably another $200/mo on other expenses (clothes, entertainment, etc) - leaving only $800/mo for rent. You're not going to find a decent apartment for $800/mo including utilities.

i suspect not, that might make the rent only.

1200 net or gross? (before or after tax)

Might be do-able if it's net, but it would be tight... really tight

bpbjess
Depends if you are living on your own and how cheap you are willing to live. Rent is prolly already at least $800 plus utilities for a one bedroom apartment.
