Is Canada Jealous Now That America Has A Cool President Again?

The whole world was watching while America voted their first Black President.

There is always something interesting going on in America, Nothing happens in Canada.

Nowhere in the world will you see a minority, a black man becoming president.

I don't think Canada has minorities or black people in parliament, much less with a chance to become Prime Minister.

So how does it feel to be a more non-existant country on the world stage.

It feels great. I am not jealous of a country that allows accountants to decide whether or not somebody gets surgery.
I live in a country that has resources the US desperately needs. If we didn't sell you our oil, you would be rationing gasoline 7 days a week. The price of housing in the US went up drastically when protectionists interfered with the cross-border trade in lumber.
We may not have blacks in Parliament, but we have native Indian and Chinese members.

Stop asking ignorant questions. Most of us really don't care what colour your president is. It is the quality of the man inside that counts, not the colour on the outside. If your mother didn't teach you that, you are a mere blip on the protoplasmic scale, not worthy of consorting with educated people.

Oryx
I'm American and I'm jealous of Canada. They're not existent. Everyone knows of them for something...maple syrup, hockey, never locking their doors...that's a lot better than being known for being lazy, fat and stupid, eh?

As one American to another,

Maybe you need to ask yourself a question. Why do Americans feel the need to pretend to be Canadian when they travel abroad? Think about it....

It feels like if the so called cool president starts to give Canada the free trade shaft the oil pumps will close from Alberta to the US and open for China. Nowhere in the world do you see a country despised and a flag burning under unhappy feet like the American flag.Canada needs no lesson from a country that steals from others and is bankrupt. Pay your bills first and maybe we will give you a chance to have a say. By the way we never elected an idiot like Bush as president. loll

Samantha B
Why would we be jealous of Americans....
Have you ever wondered why Americans pretend to be Canadian while travelling abroad? That's because Americans are not liked around the world...It doesn't matter what color your president is, we still have the better country all around! And just for the record....your a jackass

oh yea, we're so jealous of the US and all their crime and drugs and wars and pollution and racism and religious fanaticism and homophobic rednecks and KKK mentality, did I miss anything ?

your country should be embarrassed to have a citizen like you, you shame your country

Karen C
Well kiddo, You have asked a stupid question but the answers are superb!

I am happy you finally have a man at the helm down there who can speak English and has an IQ over -2. It's about time, don't you think?

Our absolute worst Prime Minister is a gem when put beside your outgoing President.

Here is a bit of trivia you might want to learn. All minorities are not necessarily black. Canada has a lot of minorities in government and as CEOs of big successful companies and as leaders in all manner of fields. If Americans thought like Canadians, you may have had a black President a long time ago - it was your own biases that stopped that from happening. As I mentioned in another post, we have had a PM with an, ethnically speaking, minority status - German - and we had him voted in very shortly after the Second World War. Canadians have a tendency to judge people on their abilities and personalities, not their colour or religion or ethnic background.

As for the 'non-existent' part of your question - you need to travel a bit. Canadians are anything but non existent in the rest of the world. There is not an American out there who has been received in Europe or Africa or South America as well as I have - but you will find a lot of Canadians who have. I have no doubts that I would get a similar welcome in any country. I doubt you can even travel to another State and be as welcome.

Now be a good boy and take your little pea brain and go away.

We are not jealous of the 17,000 gun murders per year, if that is what you mean. Jealous? No, but on an unrelated topic we have wished for a long time that we didn't have such a flake for a Prime Minister.

Like many, we are pleased the George Bush will soon no longer be able to inflict so much pain, suffering and embarrassment (and that is just to hear him give a speech). America has a long way to go to heal itself and international relations. Thankfully Obama is one person who has potential to begin the long journey.

snowpatrol321
Nah, you're still Americans, and no one thinks that's cool.

pinkpiglet126
Canadians have had a female prime minister as well. :)

The colour of Obama's skin shouldn't make a difference at all. He is a person. A person that is an isolationist and won't be able to carry out all his campaign promises - just like any other politician.

I think you may all be rejoicing now but reality will set in soon enough.

Jealous...certainly not. I'm Canadian but I now live in the UK for professional reason. When people notice my accent and ask me if I'm American and I say "no I'm Canadian", they always reply "I knew...you were too nice to be American"! I'm proud to be Canadian. We have free health care, a low violent crime rate, maple syrup, we breath fresh air, are peaceful, educated, polite and respectful. If some Canadians don't like Americans it's because of people like you who are arrogant and think the world should revolve around the USA.

And BTW...Canada is part of America... and so is Brazil, Mexico, Peru and many more.

I much prefer being a "non-existant" or quiet country on the world stage...you know what they say... no news good news!

kenoplayer
On the contrary, we are quite relieved that Obama was elected. We know that the USA is in better hands now and that Obama will strive to rebuild America's integrity on the global stage.

damlovash
Canada is always jealous of the United States.

And as for the Brit chiming in, the reason you're not bragging is because it was Margaret f**king Thatcher. That's why.
