Amen, Jibwah. You're right on the money. Canada is all that and more. I've been stuck in the states for nearly 8 yrs now due to hubby's work and their freedom of speech here is a farce. Go ahead, speak your mind, every one here will get offended. Canadians enjoy a good debate as the next, but they're remain a lot more easy going.
Not to mention all the issues that go on in the world that never hit the media here, it's ridiculous. Controlled freedom of speech! Nope, you're free in Canada. |

Wow, what a bunch of ignorant answers you received, with the exception of a few. Funny, how so many people chime in when they have obviously never lived here. Must be jealousy rearing its ugly, green head.
Canada is a great place to live.We have Universal Health Care, which means no one gets denied, everyone receives the same care, no matter their annual income. We have an extremely high quality of life. An excellent standard of education. Abundant natural resources. Four beautiful, different seasons. Cities rich with culture and history. Small, quaint towns spread over the countryside. Great, accepting people, who welcome with open arms, those from the four corners of the globe. We have legal gay marriage, free, legal abortion, Freedom of Speech, as stated in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Whoever said we don't, obviously doesn't know what he is talking about. Our violent crime rate is extremely low when comparing cities of likewise population. Canada has a secular society, which means that none of the major religions get any say in government, public schooling, or laws. Sure, it might be more expensive than the US, but our quality of life is better. I would rather pay higher taxes and have a society where everyone is treated equally. Compare an american ghetto to a Canadian one. There is no comparison. The "Canadians live in sub-zero artic temperatures year round" argument is false as well. The temperatures here in Northern Ontario hovered in the low thirties all summer. We had over 900,000 immigrants trying to get in last year. People come from all over the world to seek a better life, and they find it! Talk to any real Canadian, and they will tell you how much they love their country, and why we are considered one of the best places in the world to live.
*Who cites a lame song from South Park as their answer? Probably someone still living in their parents basement....... |

JJ Josephs.... what would ever make you think we dont have freedom of speech in Canada?? In fact our speech is much freer than yours simply because we dont have all the racially charged overtones one must avoid in the US. Boy here means boy. Black is a colour and the underground railway ran to here from there. I think you might be referring to anti-hate speech laws we have in Canada whereby one cannot spew lies or innuendo designed to inflame hate based on ethnicity, religious or sexual orientation. I think its a pretty reasonable line in the sand.
In USA religious nuts run the country and that holds true even if democrats win this year! You mix religion and politics in a manner which we have learned are best kept seperate and religion a private matter. Same as abortion; its a private matter between a women, her doctor and thats it. Sexual orinetation is your own business right up to and including full legal right to wed. Freedom includes freedom from worry about catastrophic health issues bankrupting you and your family.
Who are we to define freedom for someone else? Its a lesson you missed.
Honestly; the home of the free is really north of the 49th parallel (thats the border for you geographically challenged americans) |

Well, Canada can be pretty chill, depending where you live, I don't know what country I am comparing it to.
though you have a significantly better chance of not being shot or killed. We are very supportive of immigrants, unless from America, than we treat them much differently than the rest, mostly because they speak the same language and most Americans are ignorant of the Canadian lifestyle and culture, but we are a very friendly nation in general |

Canada is a Great country to live in.
Everyone is soo nice here, and most of the people you meet are not judgemental and will welcome you with open arms.'
There is totally freedom of speech, and whenever you say something opinionated, people will not get mad, they will try and see things from your point of view.
All in all, its a great country! |

Funny how people answer questions when they know nothing about the place, eh?
Being a Canadian, I can tell you that it is a great country to live in BUT not many people are aware that it has changed drastically over the past couple of decades and you will find a lot of crime and hardcore American style gang violence in the cities. There has been too much immigration too quickly and it's changed the whole Canadian identity, especially in Vancouver, where I'm from. I moved away 11 years ago and when I go back it is unrecognizable.
The best thing about living in Canada is that if you have a good job and work hard, you will have a very good lifestyle that many cultures envy. That's why so many people immigrate to Canada. |

I'm from Toronto and I love being Canadian. We have so much space and are not over crowded. And because we have such a vast landscape, there is so much diversity from coast to coast, whether that be in the makeup of our citizens or the scenery. I've only been to Montreal and other parts of Ontario and would love to move to Montreal in the near future, what a great unique city.
Also, in regards to the difference between the US and Canada, we have a much better (for it's people) political system. Why is there only choice A or B and nothing else. It's either super right wing types who involve the bible, as another poster stated (creationism..really??) or a semi left wing. I just wish they had more choice, there would probably be less political feuding if it wasn't a MASSIVE country divided in 2.
This video is also a cute interpretation of why we are so cool
