Is Canada a first-world country?

For school I have to do a project on Canada... one question is whether it's a first, second, or third world country.
How do you decide that?

i'm afraid i'm not a geographer, but i can certainly answer that canada is definitely a first world country!
look at the country's statistics as compared to other countries, such as GDP, gross national product, quality of living, average income, inequality index (ie. gap between rich and poor) and amount of people living below the poverty line. it additionally depends whether you want to consider it as first world from an economical, or more holistic perspective.
you could also take into account the suicide rates (as it could be argued that people are happier in first world countries); and if you want to look at it from a eurocentric/western point of view, its history of democracy.

Canada: First world (the rich developed nations)
Second world: developing but not there yet, such as the middle americas countries. Third world: Haiti for example. Social stagnation and extreme poverty

Canada has one of the highest standard of living in the world so it is way up there as a first world country

Canada is more first world than much of the USA even.

Wikipedia can answer that for you.

We have all heard about the third world, and it generally means a country that is not as financially secure or industrialized as the two major groups. It did not always mean this.

The first world countries are generally the US and its allies (also known as the Western Bloc nations). The second world countries are the Soviet Union and its allies (that were known as Eastern Bloc). The third world was originally anyone that did not fit in the Eastern or Western Bloc groups.

Canada is a first-world country. I use google to help me with homework:)

Adrian T. "Captain Canuck&q
Canada is a first world.

Douglas L
It is first world, how could you doubt that. The First World countries are Canada, the USA, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, and all of western Europe including the UK.

Francois Quebequois
Canadians like to think that canada is a first world.

but we are sooo wrong.
