Is Canada a good country to live? |
Is Canada really a good country to live? I think the numbers speek for themselves. Canada is so sparsley populated. I guess it's way too cold for most people to consider moving to. Is Canada any good? If so, why you say? eh? |

Canada is a wonderful country. Peaceful, welcoming, safe, a place where you can truly be yourself. It is tolerant and progressive. It cares about the world we all live in. From coast to coast to coast, it offers something for everyone. Mountains, plains, coast lines, forests, lots of lakes, and diversity.
Our taxes give us good social services such as health care, employment insurance, well maintained national parks, public transit, cultural events, opera, theatre, world-class ballet, film festivals, jazz festivals, sports, etc.
Democracy and freedom are values we hold dear. We respect one another. We care.
It gets cold in the winter, but oh! what fun we have in the snow. We skate to work in Ottawa, we do lots of skying, we play hockey, we spend time outside. The air is crip and clean. In the summer, we cycle to work, we run, we hike, and we are safe. In the spring, we enjoy maple syrup treats, the tulips sent to us by the Netherlands, and the start of the season of festivals (jazz, blues, films, just for laughs, etc.).
It is truly one of the best places on earth. |

What do you mean "the numbers speak for themselves"? Come on, you dont mean to say you cant handle a little cold?! If it weren't cold we wouldn't have outdoor hockey rinks, skiing/snowboarding, tobogganing, or that much snow at all.
But it's not just winter. It's ALL FOUR seasons. I love it. All the diversity, multiculturalism, freedoms, and rights. The more i learn about Canada the more i love it so much.
And let's not forget our sports. Lacrosse, Canada's national sport. Hockey the unofficial sport of Canada. We feel so passionately about our sports, especially hockey. It's hard not to be inspired by such excitement.
I wouldn't live anywhere else in the world. from vancouver island to newfoundland labrador, it's so beautiful, and i wouldn't have it any other way. |

We doen't actually live in igloos eh. The west coast (Vancouver) does not get cold. They get rain in the winter & once or twice a year a little snow.
Where I live is a semi-desert region. We have moderate winters & smoking hot summers. Some people in Canada have a pool in their backyard. Thats because we hit temperatures of 40c or 104F every year. |

Canada is sparsely populated because there hasn't been the immigration that there has been to the US, and the US is a smaller country. (Check it out - Canada is larger than the US!)
However, the immigration situation is changing and large numbers of people are immigrating to Canada - many from tropical countries, so it isn't all that cold everywhere in the country.
Canada is a wonderful country to live in. It is less violent than the US, the schools are better, and there are more opportunities. There is medicare - free medical care for all citizens -- and a strong social services net to help those in need.
Parts of Canada are warmer than some parts of the US -- check out the midwestern plains during the winter months and contrast that with Canada's west coast, where you may get two snowfalls in a winter, but they're usually gone by the next day.
And you can scuba dive year round on the West Coast. |

It is the best country in the world
Yes it is hard for immigrants, but with hard work and determination you'll find your way, just have to build your network, be patient and work hard
It is really worth it, it is a cheap country with high wages |

I love Canada, however, I also know it can be hard for many immigrants coming to Canada especially those with skills such as: doctors, teachers, pilots, engineers, accountants and other skilled workers--most of their credentials aren't accepted when they move to Canada.
It can be very hard for someone with skills in their home country and not being able to use them here in Canada. A lot of immigrants have to work in convenience stores, drive taxis, janitorial work, and other mediocre work. |

Canada constantly gets ranked as one of the top most desirable countries to live in. I am Canadian, but I left in 2000 to travel. I will return in 2007 to move back. It's a great country, we don't fear terrorists (as we know they are not there for us), it's cheaper to live, temps range from -35C in winter to +35C in summer, and the people are friendly. |

Canada is a great place to live for the right type of people. If your a hot climate type of person, probably not the best place to live unless you're there just for the summer because it can get really hot.
Canada is great for all the seasons. You get to experience them all and try out the different activities for them (skiing, jumping in leaves, tanning, rainy).
Taxes are really bad in Canada, but they do give you an amazing Medicare system. Much better than what you will find in most of the US.
If you are honestly thinking of moving there, the best thing to do is live on the border. If you can work in the US and live in Canada, you will have a lot more profit. Prices are the same in Canada as in the US, only the Canadian dollar is worth less. Like a cheeseburger for example. 99cents in America, and 99cents in Canada. So your only really paying like 75cents (or whatever the exchange rate is). The great thing, is that this applies to a lot of aspects of life in Canada. |

You can choose to live in British Columbia. British Columbia has milder weather and stays warm than rest of Canada.
If you are thinking about immigration, you should check on various internet sites about job availability in your field and if you will need to get certification for jobs. There are plenty of people who immigrate but then struggle to get jobs in their field because of the reasons above. |
