No. A recession is either two or three recesssive quarters (depending on which country you are from) and Canada has not had that yet. Canada is in a pretty strong position financially, firstly because the banks didn't fail (due to the difference in regulations and policy) and while there are some cutbacks, there are still a lot of major projects going on. Building for the 2010 Olympics, for one, plus massive amounts of infrastructure.
When you ask what caused you to be in a recession, that's hard to answer because you don't say where you are from. Many English speaking countries around the globe are in recession. |

I believe that we are entering a recession. Look at all the poor souls in Ontario that have lost their jobs. The trades in Alberta have taken a good kicking in the last 1-2 months.....thousands have lost their jobs, plants scaling back....or cancelling altogether.... sawmills shutting down all over in BC. If things don't turn around in the next few months you will see foreclosures increasing dramatically. |
