Canada is an independent nation which reached its present territorial extent in 1949 when Newfoundland became Canada's 10th province.
Canada was not fully independent until 1987 when Canada finally achieved the right to amend its own Constitution by passage of the British North America Act of 1987 in the British House of Commons. Until the passage of this Act the Canadian Parliament did not have the power to affect its own constitution, a basic hallmark of being independent.
Her Majesty Elizabeth II, the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is also Queen of Canada but this is not taken as detracting from Canadian Independence. |

Canada is a parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy with Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state. In 1867, with the union of three British North American colonies through Confederation, Canada became a federal dominion. A gradual process of independence from the United Kingdom moved Canada towards statehood and culminated in the Canada Act 1982, severing the last vestiges of dependence on the British parliament. So the answer is no. Canada is not part of Great Britain. |

Canada is independent from Britian but is part of the common wealth. This means that though being it's own separate country the head of state is still the British Monarchy. Canada is not a republic it is a Constitutional Monarchy could they change status and become the republic of Canada making the Prime Minister the head of state like a President yes but that would be a very costly endeavour so the Queen still remains the head though her duties are symbolic and Canada decides its own laws, war contributions etc. Canada is a country not an extension of British colony in North America as it once was. |

To add to Rillifan's excellent post, I will only mention that Queen Elizabeth II is Queen of Canada separately from her role as Queen of the United Kingdom. Technically, if Britain abolished the monarchy tomorrow, the Queen would still be the Queen of Canada - we would have to give up the monarchy ourselves. The two titles are completely separate. |

So far you have gotten a bunch of contradicting information. Hope I help...
Canada is part of the Commonwealth.
Canada is its own country with its own constitution and parliament.
The Queen has a sort of a spokes person within our Parliament (I think it's the Governor general but I could be wrong).
Canada is in North America. |

Not at all! Most Canadians don't even worship the queen. However, Canada is great friends with UK and will likely be for a very long time. Many Canadians have British ancestry and there are many immigrants here that are from the UK. Also, there are about 500,000 Canadians living in the UK. |

In 1986 it became an official country that joined Canada. So the answer is yes great britain is part of Canada. |

No. They are an Independent State. The U.K. has enough problems, they do not need Canada. |

No, Canada is an independent country. Canada was never owned by Britain, except some of the land was first conquered by the British. However, Canada was orginally colonized by the French. That explains the reason why there are many French-related items in Canada...especially in Quebec. |

NO Not now |

No, but it's part of the Commonwealth. The Queen is still their Queen. I think the U.S. is one of the only English speaking countries NOT part of the Commonwealth. |

Only in that they can't be bothered to declare independence. No one in Canada actually cares about the Queen, and most of them hate Britain. |
