I've been to many places in the World and have to say that in my opinion
Canada is definitely the best country to live in for many reasons.
Other that decent health care
Good social services
Culture
High Quality of Life
Decent People for the most part
Democratic
Good infrastructure
Clean
Safe
Canada has the best educated people and the highest literacy rate in
the world.
Canadians live longer than almost everyone else in the world.
It's so beautiful
I especially love where I live in British Columbia - The Ocean, Mountains, Lakes and Forests.
There are lots of other reasons why it's so good including: diversity, the usually good economy, the recreational activities, uncrowded, natural resources, etc.
Lots of cool things were invented in Canada including: peacekeeping , cable TV, Superman, Basketball, the wonderbra , electric cars, roller skates, insulin, oil wells, pablum, telephones, IMAX, Am Radio, Zippers and more.
Plus we have Hockey and Excellent Beer
Canada is so great to live in.
We also don't have George Bush !
(and luckily for you soon you won't either) |

According the human development index (which takes into account factos such as health care, economy etc.) it is the fourth best country in the world to live. Iceland is first, then Norway then Australia. Canada has been ranked first more years than any other coutry though. The last time Canada ranked first on the HDI (human development index) was in 2000. So one of your reasons can be because the HDI says so. |

Although Canada has a very good healthcare system - it isn't the only one in the world with excellent healthcare. Many places have better systems. France has one of the best.
Actually, most of the scandinavian countries come out as tops in many areas as the best places to live in the world. Of course, they have been around hundreds of years longer - so the comparison isn't entirely level - they have quite the head start. |

Poor Iceland is not faring so well in this global economic crisis so their rating will be impacted the next time around. |

Canada does not have the best health care system in the world, and according to the World Health Organization it ranks at number 33.
France is number 1, Italy is number 2. http://www.photius.com/rankings/healthranks.html
Also, there is no best country (in my opinion). A country you don't like, for whatever reason, may be another person's favorite country. |

The best national health care systems are in France, Switzerland and some of the other european countries. The Canadian system is bad and getting worse, with emergency wards overflowing while patients lie on gurneys in the corridors. You have to wait months for surgery. In france, emergency means instant treatment, and non-emergency operations take place withing a few days.
Canada may be better than Rwanda, but the system is a failure. |
