Buffalo Canadian

Is Flemingdon Park a good neighborhood to live in?

In the 1980's, I was born and raised in Flemingdon Park before my family moved to Buffalo, NY. I'm sure a lot has changed since then.

Is it still a good neighborhood?

Flemingdon Park is the region southwest of the Eglinton-Don Mills intersection.
Additional Details
southeast, not southwest.

Vendome through to St. Dennis Drive has become the murder capitol and drug dealers haven for the Toronto area. People are withdrawing their kids in spades from Gateway and Grenoble and sending them to alternative attendance outside the neighbourhood-does that tell you something? The area has an influx of Ontario Housing complexes and althought the area is well kept and not run down it is a ghetto in every sense of the word!! I lived there for a short time and got the hell out fast. I still have relatives and friends who live there and most have moved or are in the process of moving. At some point low rent is not worth risking your life on a daily basis.

Flemo is now one of the worst areas, however thats not to say that the entire area is rough.

It has been built up in the last few years, the Science Center is there IBM is on one corner.

Most of the apartment buildings are highrise, but you have the DVP not to far away, you might want to check out the area closer to St Clair and Don Mills, but either way it is not cheap, the 1 bedroom places run $700-900 a month, a 2 would go for $900-1100.

High crime. Not as bad as Malvern and the Jane & Finch area but still not a safe place to live.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page where a brief but concise paragraph describes the area.

OMG why is it that the 2 places I've lived in and currently live in are on blast on Y! answers?

Flemo is NOT a bad place to live...spare me...we are scared of these places because they're filled with predominantly Blacks, Tamils, Arabs and Asians.

....and my girl (J.W.) up there keeps on putting these places on blast....have you lived there? (working corrections dont count...your perceptions of these places change being in law enforcement)

She says she was born and raised in Jamaica....well Ms. Crime analyst...what about Tivoli or wes' mulan (West Moreland)? Now you've just described those areas not bleecker or flemo!

Bill L
Flemingdon Park is not a very good neighborhood to live in, however, it is a good deal nicer than many Buffalo neighborhoods.
