It is a creation of nature. Pierre Berton, a well known Canadian author wrote a book about the history of the falls. The falls are shared by Canada and the US, but the best view of the falls by far is from the Canadian side.
The second link I've included has a live web cam view of the falls.

Created by nature and maintained by man. It's a result of erosion over time. Man, however, is changing that, with hydro diversion projects, that are going to reduce water flow a bit, slowing down the natural erosion and movement of the falls. Yes, the falls move, about a foot a year, up river. Up until about 1927 (when the first major water diversion went in) they moved about 3 feet per year. Future water diversions will lessen this. |
