fantastic place.
probably the friendliest people you will find in all of Canada. The province is quite small so you could rent a car and have a fantastic time touring it.
highlights:
Halifax: a small and pretty city. In summer they have an internationally renowned busker festival. Canada's best art school is here - in a block of converted old buildings, connected by a maze of corridors and pathways. The Titanic Muesum and tribute to the Halifax Expolision (two ships collided in the harbour to create the largest man-made explosion EVER up until Hiroshima). The massive citadel atop the hill overlloking the city and harbout are a testement to what was one of British North America's first settlements.
The South Shore: meandering road that winds past quaint little fishing villages - the highlight of which would have to be Peggy's Cove - one of the most pictaresque spots in Canada.. other notable towns, Mahone Bay, Bridgewater, Yarmouth.. kinda like New England
The Cabot Trail: up to the majestic grandeur of Cape Breton - massive rock cliffs jutting out into the sea... kinda like Ireland or Scotland.
Annapolis Valley and Digby: 300 plus year old settlements along the Bay of Fundy. Used French Acadian until British Loyalists kicked em out and they moved down to Lousiana and became "Cajuns"..
- uhh, just don't go there between October and May!! brrrrr.. |

If you are from Canada and have not explored your own country, or you are coming from another country and are looking at possible tourist stops in Canada, you should check out what the maritimes has to offer.
Gorgeous scenery, great golfing, hiking, camping, kayaking. Great seafood. Pleasant friendly people. Halifax supposedly has a pretty good nightlife, although I never went there to experience that myself.
With the murders and assaults on tourists happening in Mexico, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, and the US now requiring passports to fly anywhere, I'll be looking in my backyard for my vacation plans this year. Either heading east to the maritimes, or heading west to Calgary and Banff area. |

Nova Scotia is an excellent place to go on vacation! If I was you, I'd get atour of the province and the other three Atlantic Provinces (PEI, New Brunswick and Newfoundland). I'm sure a travel agent could set something up for you in that area. |

Not sure what the place is like now, but 40 years ago when I went with my family, it was one of the most unspoiled, beautiful places I'd ever seen. Be sure and check out the Bay of Fundy. |

Absolutely, Nova Scotia is a good place to go on vacation.
I've gone there many times for work, and I always found the days less stressful in that province.
I think it's a great place, regardless of your budget or interests. It's good for newly-weds, families, budget travellers, culture lovers, hikers, business travellers, etc.
I'd recommend looking into staying at one of the lovely inns or B&Bs. |

If you love the outdoors, you couldn't come to a more beautiful spot. The people of Nova Scotia are warm, welcoming and down-to-earth.
It's so beautiful you won't want to leave.
Beautiful One Day... Perfect The Next.
MacLean's magazine, the national magazine of Canada (similar to Time or Newsweek) declared Halifax "The Last Best Place" to live in Canada, and the world. |
