Canada is the second largest independent nation on the planet. We currently have troops serving in many countries (most notably Afghanistan), but not Iraq. We did go to Iraq the first time though.

IT is its own country with its own government. It is not involved in the war in Iraq but is helping on the war on terrorism in Afghanistan.

Fluffy Wisdom
Get a brain, it is an independent country larger in land area then the US.

And not involved in the war in Iraq.

Canada is an independent nation. It's part of North America, which is a continent, not a nation. You should have learned this by the time you were a freshman in High School.

omg. canada is the second largest country in thw world it is a COUNTRY and an important one. before canada was a country (in the mid 1800's) the land was under british rule. but canada is an independent country, we are not in iraq but are in afghanastan

Canada is an independant country, just like Mexico, China, Japan, etc. This is their stance on the war in Iraq:

"The Canadian government has said that it won’t support a US-led military action against Iraq unless it had stronger evidence of imminent Iraqi aggression. Canadian political leaders remain skeptic over US and UK claims that Iraq is developing weapons of mass destruction with intent to use them.

If Canada were to join a coalition against Iraq, it would not be able to contribute much militarily. Canada has its cut military spending by 23 percent in the 1990s, leaving it unable to send significant forces beyond its pre-existing UN peacekeeping commitments and operations in Afghanistan."

Hope this helps. Enclosed the website for further info.

FeatherHead
Canada is an independent country. And it has chosen NOT to be involved in Iraq.

Canada is its own country. What country are you living in that you don't know this?

Koral
It's and independent country, and it's part of the American Continent. It's like saying Mexico, or the United States.

It is an independant country, but is part of the British Commonwealth, which is a voluntary association of mostly former possessions of the United Kingdom. Canadian troops are in Afghanistan.

It is a separate country. I don't think it is involved in the war with Iraq.

Canada is part of British Commonwealth and technically the Queen Elizabeth is the head of the nation. There is a governor general who represents the Queen in Canada. So, technically Canada is still part of Britain. But, there is a new law introduced in 1982 (Canada Act) constitution which says Canada can change its constitution any time they want. This means that, Canada can choose to become a totally independent country anytime, but they voluntarily keep its current position for historical reasons and heritage.

Canada and US are totally different contries. The life style however is almost the same. People say that Canada is the European version of US.

I am also new to Canada so I may be wrong in some points. Hope it helps.

Fine!
It is an independent country but affiliated with the common wealth countries.
They have some staff in Iraq training the Iraq army , and have combat troops fighting in Afghanistan.
