Depends what you're into man.

America isn't a bad place to live. Canada isn't a bad place to live. If I were you I'd weigh my priorities... what's important to you in a place?

Canada has a capitalist economy as well.... it's a diverse country. ther'es liberal parts and conservative provinces, just like America has right wing and left wing states. Big corporations are also prominent here (although I don't think as much as they are in the US). Most of our jobs come from big business..... Canada is by no means a socialist country, nor is it profoundly more to the left than America is (contrary to what some American commentators will have you believe).

Do some research into this country.

Canada is not that much different from USA, although most of our major cities tend to have lower crime rates.

And Canadians seem to pay more taxes than in USA, and even though we all complain about that, we don't usually do anything about it.

I've been to many US cities and I'd say Canada feels very much like living in a small town in USA, except you don't see the year round patriotism. Most of our larger cities feel like you are walking around in Nashville (TN) or Lancaster (PA). The smaller cities tend to be more like Albany (NY) or Plattsburgh (NY).

As for living in a country ruled by greed, I would say that Canadians are just as interested in making money and living comfortably as any American, but it takes less for most of us to feel comfortable. If you have a roof over your head, food on the table, and good family and friends, your in good shape.

Here is an example of where I live: We helped a neighbour put up their fence, fixed another neighbour's rain gutters, watch out for each other's kids, and help each other out by shoveling or snowblowing the driveways and walkways. We did not expect anything in return. I live in Quebec, and my family is English federalist, we have a French federalist on one side, a First Nations family on the other, and a French separatist across the street.

If you went to either Vancouver or Toronto, you would love it. They are amazing cities, great quality of life, safe, etc. Vancouver is a laid-back lifestyle for sure. People there are all about surfing, snowboarding, and the great outdoors because its got among the best natural geography of any city in the world - mountains, islands, forests, etc. Everyone I know that has went to stay there for a couple months ended up staying there - they loved it far too much. Toronto is also a great city. It's the cultural and financial heart of Canada. Anyways, whichever city you are closer to, I would suggest visiting. I would say they would be more like living in really really good American cities rather than a different country. Vancouver is rated as #1 city in the world to live, Toronto #5, according to the Economist's World's Most Liveable Cities survey. No American city makes the top 10.

start by learning something about the country besides that it has free healthcare and weed (perhaps you even know our PM's name. good on you)

It must be better, it seems like a large percentage of the questions on here are from people wondering how to come and live here.

Start by contacting Canadian Immigration to see if you even qualify.

I love Canada! Why dont you take a vacation here to see?
Im from Ontario, so i say come here, but halifax and vancouver are also really great places <3 msg me if you have more questions k

Unless you have a university degree and can qualify for a "TN Visa" (google it) it takes 3 to 5 years to get your papers to immigrate to Canada.

And do note the medical care is not free. It is paid for with higher cigarette, alcohol and gasoline taxes.

I wouldn't move to a country I didn't know anything about. It might be worse when you get there.

I would wait and see what happens. We are probably going to have a coup in the next few weeks and an alliance of communists, separatists and corrupt socialists will take over from the democratically elected government.

Just read up on it. The only place in Canada that has the standard of living comparable to cities in the US is the corridor between Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta. Wages here are way higher than the minimum wage, but everything is SO expensive. Everything to buy in Canada alone is much more expensive than in the states because they it is when we import everything here the price goes up with the exchange rate, but when our dollar was up above yours everything still cost the same. Which is bullsh*t .Canada also has a higher tax rate than the states. It all depends on what your idea of 'free' is. Some laws here are much different than the US. Depending on where you are living, it can also be much colder here. If you're not a fan of -40 temps don't even think about Saskatchewan, Manitoba or northern Ontario. Alberta has some very cold temps as well, but they also have several 'chinooks' that will bring warm winds and boost the temps to well above freezing in the middle of winter. But depending on what you do for a living your best bet of finding a job might be to look at Alberta or any big city. Just do lotsa research. hope this helps

Canada is a much freer, laid back and compassionate society compared to america, but I doubt that u would like it here, we don't carry guns, we have legal gay marriage, universal health care..there's just alot of differences that americans don't .like about us...ur better off to stay home

Edit: Dude, trust me....you wouldn't like it here, we're not like u...

Edit: the_guy_in_alberta....u r an idiot and u don't know squat about Canada...

grandpa_walton9
Just FYI there is no such country as America. There are some 35 counties that make up North, South, and Central America. If by chance you are referring to the United States (of America) I can only say that each is different so neither is better than the other.
