SFdude
No, if you use GDP, the second most wealthy country is Japan (in between the United States [1] and Germany [3]).

scubabob
No. Not if you're considering the GDP. We don't have the population to support a large enough manufacturing and export base for it, but at least we're not in the #1 spot for creating fools, like I see occupying the second answer.

If you are looking at:

Health
Happiness
Good Place to Live
Health Care
Minimum Wage
Education
University
Employment Insurance
Pension Plans

THEN IT MIGHT EVEN BE FIRST.

Luis V
I don´t know, depends on the rank...On GDP and GDP per capita have to be on the top ten...On the quality of life, I think it might rank top 5, no doubt...

In some things, yes. Not in GNP, but in peaceful living, in open country, in lots of space (Canada is the largest country in the world since the breakup of the Soviet Union) in a comprehensive medical care system, in good (free) education up to grade 12 for every Canadian child, in freedom to live as we wish.
If that doesn't count as riches, then nothing else matters....

Sarath M
Canada is at 9th place.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Sorry that's the effect reading your question had on me.

The following is a list of countries by GDP (nominal) according to the IMF:

1. United States
2. Japan
3. Germany
4. China
5. United Kingdom
6. France
7. Italy
8. CANADONIA
9. Spain
10. South Korea

It depends on which measurement and source you look at, but Canadesia ranks even lower on some rankings.
