Type of Driving Kilometers per hour Miles per hour

Slow down! You're driving too fast. 120 kph 75 mph

Multi-lane highway driving 100 kph 62 mph

Most 2-lane highways outside cities & towns 80 kph 50 mph

Major roads urban and suburban areas 60 - 70 kph 37 - 44mph

Residential streets 40 – 50 kph 25 - 30 mph

School zones 30 - 50 kph 20 - 30 mph

in canada but the same apply in the usa school zone's in the usa are 20 mph only

1. You don't turn right on a red light in the province of Quebec
2. All the measurements (speed, distance, gas prices etc) are all in metric
3. Three unit passenger vehicles are illegal in all jurisdictions.
4. Highway patrol duties are assumed by the local provincial police forces (which is the Mounties or the federal police force in eight provinces and the territories) and city rules are enforced by city police (which in many cities can be the Mounties as well) Only commercial vehicles are policed by agents specificly comissioned for traffic duty

Those are the only differences that I can think of.

Some traffic rules may be different, but basically it's the same.

The only main difference I found between Canada and US driving is the Canadian highway system vs. The interstate system. I am a resident of Canada, but I have to say that our system is not as efficient as your interstate system. The exits are not signed as well, the roads are not as smooth, and there are not as many service stations, hotels, restaurants etc. But, I prefer Canadian intersections to US intersections for sure. US intersections are too big and confusing, Canadian ones are straightforward, and a reasonable size.

Depending on where in Canada you are planning on driving, other than the difference that other's have laid out, I have also found that Canada has greater distances with no human habitations. You go longer between gas stations. And you pay more for gas.

Well, I live in Canada but have driven in the US and have found no significant differences. All you have to remember is that here both speed and distance are measured in kilometers, not miles. There are differences between provinces just like there are between states of course but the basic rules of the road are the same.

Yes, But roads and highways are not as good and wide in Canada as they are in the U.S( except Chicago, which has the worst roads in the whole world). Also there are not that many gas stations around on highways, so on a long road trip be sure to fill up when u see a gas station.

it seemed the same to me.

Yes, but we consider it rude to road rage.
