It's not a holiday, it's just Columbus day. I think it should be a holiday though, the man discovered America right?

The second Monday in October is Thanksgiving Day in Canada, a statutory holiday. It was traditionally set by proclamation each yeaar and in 1957 a proclamation was issued permanently setting the second Monday of October as Thanksgiving Day.

In the US it is Columbus Day which is observed by federal and other agencies. The US Congress declared it a Federal holiday in 1971 and set it for the second Monday in October.

It's a holiday in both countires. It's Columbus day in US (although I don't know if it's celebrated or not) . In Canada, November the 8th is Thanksgiving and it's observed as a holiday...
