I'd say to def stay on the Canadian side.. June is a very nice time to come to Niagara Falls, it's in the heart of tourist season... good choice! I'm assuming you want to do the whole falls experience so the Canadian side does offer a better variety of hotels overlooking the falls for reasonable prices.. check out hotels such as the Marriott, Fallsview Casino, Embassy Suites, Sheraton, etc... most of which will offer a package deal including a meal at their in hotel resturants. The Canadian side does have more activities and sites to see.. but don't rule the American side out.. take a day to walk over the Rainbow bridge (it's easier than you'd think- just bring your passport if you're from outside the US, or government issued ID and your birth certificate or a passport if you're from the US) you also get great views of the falls.. and some excellent pictures. On the US side visit Goat Island and whatever other touristy things you are interested in-- about the money exchange.. right now it's pretty much even.. but when you come don't be worried that you do not have enough Canadian money on you... as we're a tourist city American money is accepted everywhere... not exadurating, and there are various places to exchange money- including in your hotel itself.
Have a good trip :) |

Given the way the Niagara River curves at the falls it is much easier to view them from the Canadian side. With that having been said, the hotels in Canada offer a much better view, are much closer to activities like Clifton Hill and the casino(s). All in all, the Canadian side is where you want to be. |

The Canadian side is much more suited to tourists as far as ammenities and hotels etc. Crossing the Border is not as big a deal as you may think, bring photo ID, passports if you have them, Birth registration etc. Money exchange will depend on rates that time of year, about dollar for dollar right now, and American money is readily accepted in Canada if you don't want to exchange. Best views of the Falls will bring you to the Canadian side anyway. |
