It's best to use Canadian cash. In the past, you would get a better exchange rate from your credit card company, but now they all charge a currency conversion fee which can range anywhere from 2% to 5% depending on your card. Some places in tourist areas will accept US dollars, but at a horrible exchange rate. |

Hmmm ... I know that when we travel from Canada to the US it is much cheaper for us to use a credit card than to buy US dollars in the US. We have found travellers checks to be inconvenient and stopped using them a few years ago. You need to check with your credit card company and balance that cost with the exchange rate you would pay when exchanging your money or using a debit card. We have found a debit card to be the most expensive way to go. And yes, there are lots of places to change to Canadian $$$$.
I hope this helps. |

Use your credit card. The credit card companies will do the conversion on your purchases using the current conversion rate when it posts to your account. Since they deal in large volumes of dollars when converting, they are able to get a better rate. |

I live in Canada. I have seen them using both credit cards & cash. It makes no difference. Check with your local bank if you can obtain some Canadian currency prior to leaving. Also ask about American Express Travelers' Checks in Canadian funds, if they have any at your local state bank. I do believe there are also currency places around the border somewhere. Check at customs upon arrival. Good luck & happy travels. |

Use traveler's checks. Credit card companies sometimes charge fees for converting your dollars. |

I think you would get a better exchange rate if you use cash as apposed to a credit card. Or try using Travelers cheques. |

Check with your credit card company. Some companies charge an exchange fee in addition to regular charges. Also, check with your bank on its rules for using debit card. Also, credit and debit cards offer additional protection for faulty products and disputing incorrect charges. |

Canadaian dollars are better here, because alot ofplaces are not equipped to take American money. Credit cards are good, but it's also handy to have some cash ready, because some places don't take credit cards. Visa is probably best, because they work worldwide. Cash is also good if you want to purchase something small. |
