Hello! Ilived in Boston for a year and a half and it was fine. Sure, it takes some time to get used to the cold weather and tons of snow! But you just need a good coat and big water proof boots and you'll be fine -well, and a scarf and a hat! Don't miss it when you go out!
You can also buy special underwear that will help you to stay warm! Inside the buildings you'll have no problem, since there's always have a lot of heating -people work in shirts in Boston during winter!
Have fun in the cold weather!

You get used to it. If you live in the north of France, you may experience some cold weather already, though probably not as sustained as it is in some parts of Canada. Winter temperatures vary from year to year, and also differ by geographical location. Coastal BC and Atlantic Canada often (not always) have relatively mild winters, while the prairies can have severe winters. The populated areas of central Canada (southern Ontario and urban Quebec) are in the middle range in terms of severity of winters.

Invest in a good winter coat and boots. Warm gloves (or mitts - warm, though less fashionable) and a warm hat is important - you lose a lot of body heat through the head. A woolen 'toque' is effective in keeping the head and ears warm.

Hi I am from South Africa and it gets cold here very cold aspesialy weere I stay it gets into the minusus in the winter and then very hot in the sumer here by us. I would say that it is not that difficult to stay in cold places I prefer the cold rather than the heat I can put on more things to keep me worm but i cant take of my clothes until im feeling cool.
Thats my upinion

Not really, like everyone else said you get used to it. Hardest part is getting used to it each years by the end of fall. We need a few weeks of adaptation, after that it's alright. Of course i'm not talking about extreme temperature, like -30, we never get used to that, but it happens and the only thing we can do is to put more clothes on.

It's not cold in Canada all the time. During winter temperatures can go as low as -40 degrees Celcius, but that is the extreme temperature. Spring, summer and fall are quite warm. Living in Canada takes some getting used to, however the changes in season are welcome in my opinion, because living in a climate that is warm all year long would kind of make me crazy. Living in the cold all year long wouldn't be pleasant either. So it's actually a nice balance between the two.

Where I live in Ontario, it's really not that bad at all and it is bad cold only a short time so you get used to it quickly.

Dallas S
No you get uses to the cold.

tuppenybitz
I'm an Australian living in Canada and don't find it too bad, the snow is worse than the cold

Danelady
I don't know why there is such a big emphasis on the cold, because Canadian summers can get very hot, like +40 C. It is much easier to deal with the cold, you just wear more clothes. If it's hot, there is no getting away from it.

with global warming these days.. our winters aren't nearly as bad as they use too ..

sure it depends on what part of canada..

it sure does get cold in winnipeg :)

People who are saying it's -40c in the winter must be living in the arctic or the NWT or the Yukon.

The prairies do have cold snaps, but its not a big deal, it isnt like it hits -40C in November and stays that cold until March or something.

The west coast has mild winters, the southern interior of BC has relatively mild winters, and extreme cold doesnt stick around that long -

You live in France, its not as if Europe doesnt have cold winters, so you should have some idea of what it means.

Summers are generally hot all across Canada, again more temperate at the West Coast -

globetrekker
It isn't difficult. You just need some time to get use to the climate change.

blagh
You really do get used to it. There is more to Winter than just cold. Like that its such a beautiful time, and you get a lot of time reading because its nice to stay warm snuggled up on the couch with a good book or movie. I know its the little things in life!

If you come to Canada you will be amazed by the beauty of the snow and our cold winters. Yes it is cold but you just dress warmly so that you don't feel it.

I live in Cali. but I have family in Quebec and I go there often. Yes it gets very cold. Are you ready for -30 and -40 near the east coast? If you go on the west cost it does not snow as much.
