Is it easy for a black person to get a job in Calgary?

In Montreal, anybody can get a job, but it's harder for visible minorities to move up in position. How is Calgary in relation to this?

Good question. I don't think Calgary is as racially diverse as Montreal, and they have the reputation of being mostly white conservatives. I think most workplaces would welcome you if not only b/c a lot of companies have minority quotas to fill (including women), but as for the higher up positions it's hard to tell. Here's a good site that discusses racism in Calgary and has quotes and surveys from ppl in the black community.

I find Alberta to be very friendly and inviting. There is very little prejudices against anyone black. I grew up there and now that I live in New Orleans, the racial thing here is horrible!

Calgary is very open. And if you are talented, and good at what you do, there is no limit to how high you can move up. Seriously, there are Blacks and Asians, in upper management.

Shouldn't be too much of a problem, as previous person said, it's booming. I know Calgary has a reputation in the rest of Canada, but I am not sure it totally deserves it anymore, it's gotten quite diverse.
