I haven't lived in Toronto for 10 years, but interestingly enough earlier today My mother was telling me that there are town homes and small single family homes being built in Malvern starting at $169,000 (she is a mortgage broker). This would be about 45 minutes to an hour from downtown Toronto depending upon traffic. You can search MLS using "Scarborough" as your city, it may not be listed as yet because the properties are pre-construction, so I've included another link which lists only new construction properties.
But keep in mind, you won't find any houses in the city of Toronto for that price; you'll have to search in the Greater Toronto Area which includes several areas at least 30 minutes away. Commuting isn't so bad if you drive to a subway station and commute the rest of the way. |

Thats gonna be quite hard check the MLS website and see whats around the market. The average price is around $ 300 000 - $400 000.
Good luck |

Yes, very hard. You can find condos for that price but houses that cheap are really really rare. You may be able to find something far enough out in the suburbs. |

It's hard to find houses anywhere in South Western Ontario for anything less than $200,000, let alone the GTA.
Good Luck. |

Well currently the average price for a single family house in the GTA is around $400,000. You'd probably be better off looking at condos well in the suburbs, maybe Aurora or Newmarket (about half an hour north of Toronto). |

Depends how "near" you want to be. For $200,000, you could find a small house in a distant suburb. The average price of a two-storey house in Toronto is around $550,000 right now. So you would have to be pretty far from the city to get a house for $200,000. Even places like Aurora and Newmarket, which are about 45 minutes to an hour away (driving, without traffic) are still more than $200k. Maybe parts of Hamilton, Oshawa, Milton, Uxbridge, Bradford, Barrie, etc. might have very small houses in this price range. But honestly, for $200k, you're lucky if you'll get a condo in Brampton for this price. |

for that you could find a small condo or loft single bedroom, in toronto. |
