Is it illegal to bring alcohol from the USA into Canada?

I am taking a trip with my son in early March from Buffalo and Toronto and I want to know if I'll encounter any problems if I try to bring a couple of cases of Coors original along for the ride to drink at the hotel in Toronto.

No you won't have a problem with a dozen for yourself and a dozen for your son assuming he's 19 or older.

Edit: I agree with some of the other answers. Why not try a good Canadian beer while in Canada. As well as all the major breweries like Molsons and Labatts there are lots of micro-breweries producing outstanding beers.

By the way. Do you know why they call Coors sex by the lake? Cause it's fcking near water!!!!

You are allowed to bring in 24-12 oz. cans or bottles of beer or 40 oz liquor or 1.5 litres of wine free of duties and taxes. Any amount in excess of 45 liters will not be allowed entry.

Eric S
That's fine, but why not try Canadian beers and experience something different from the usual, you know? One of my favourite beers is
Belle Guerre Pilsner" from Montreal which is a blondie beer and it is incredibly good. I'm not sure if Toronto has it though. Also try
"Alexander Keiths India Pale Ale" from Halifax. Coors you can ALWAYS get.

Do yourself a great favor and border concerns. Leave the Coors stuff at home and buy a real mans beer here. After you've crossed the border pull into any town and ask where the BEER STORE is (that's what it's called) they have a great selection.

I agree. There is so much great beer in Canada why would you want to bring Coors into the country? Leave it at home and try the multitude of great Canadian beers. If you like Coors then you'll probably like any of the following:
Molson Canadian, Kokanee, Labatt's Blue (Those are our "Sports Beers")
- Sleemans, Shaftsbury, Alexander Keith's are move of our local brews

Have a safe visit. Cheers!
