Is it possible to get a taxi from Vancouver International Airport...? |
to Burnaby Mountain? I'm going to SFU coming from the US and I have no idea how to get from the airport to the school.
Anyone has any ideas? Additional Details Just for clarifications, I'm not asking if there are taxis at the airport, I'm asking if they go up to the University in Burnaby since it's quite far. |

Hi"..."Yes" catching a cab is quite easy from YVR regardless if you are arriving at the Domestic Terminal or the International Terminal as the taxis are waiting on the arrivals level !
Even during busy time they are held in a holding lot and called up depending on the demand !
The time to get to SFU should be about 30 mins. depending on traffic and I say about $45.00 but definately worth it in your case if you don't know the area!
I'll tell you right now if you don't know the transit system you would most likely have troubles as you'd need to do a few transfers ,baggage or not , and then get the sky train and then another bus ! *S* Sorry !
Hope that helps ya ! *S* (Michael C...)

EDIT..........Taxis from YVR to the top of beautiful Burnaby Mountain (campus)...is a "No problem-er" ! *S*...I live in Burnaby ! *S* |

Sure. But it's going to be costly. When are you arriving? The easiest way would be to take the bus from the airport, then transfer to Sky Train (there's a stop at Gaglardi Way, in Burnaby - that's the road that goes up to SFU- and take the bus up to the campus. If you've got a ton of luggage, you're probably better off to just bite the bullet and put aside $75 to $100 for cab fare. |

Yes, taxis will go to SFU but it's going to cost a good penny from the airport. If you have daylight hours for this and a small budget, the 135 bus goes straight to SFU from Burrard Station which is on the Vancouver waterfront and not far from a number of hotels so the airport shuttle will get you very close to it. That would be my choice for a good combination of relative economy and simplicity. The fewer transfers the better if you have any amount of luggage. |

here is a website you want to try: http://www.translink.bc.ca/
it also has a trip planer: http://tripplanning.translink.bc.ca/hiwire?.a=iTripPlanning&.s={$SID}
Simon Fraser University - 778-782-3111

It is quite a distance from the airport, a taxi will be quite expensive. Inquire by phone or e-mail. try also greyhound info. i wish you all the best and i am positive that you will enjoy the university and vancouver: "the best place on earth" (our logo at the moment) p.s. make sure you have some canadian dollars in your wallet, it will make it easier |

Go to their website. All airports list the transportation to and from the airport. Here's a link: http://www.worldairportguide.com/airport/434/airport_guide/North-America/Vancouver-International-Airport.html
OR
http://tinyurl.com/5m88ln
Generally there is a van or bus or something that goes to the nearest city or frequently requested locations like universities. You can also check from the SFU site to see if they have a bus to and from the airport. http://www.burnaby.sfu.ca/ |
