You would have to go out of town, because with all the city lights it would be impossible to see them. But if you go north Montreal, where there is NOTHING, no little town, no lights then you should be able to see some, if the weather conditions are right and all.. |

I've lived in Montreal for a very long time, and have to say, I have never, ever seen the Northern lights. Anyone who claims that it is possible is mistaken |

Nope the Northern light are best seen in the Dakotas better known as the Milky way . I have seen them in Fargo North Dakota , what you are seeing in Montreal is very little of anything . I lived in Montreal the better part of my life . Good luck and hope you get to see them someday they are just incredible . |

No way to see them in Montreal, even to be near a little town or a too bright neighboor could give you no chances at all to see them.
If you'd like to see them, winter is better, cool days, clear skies and the farther you can go north, the farther from cities and lights, now technically you have the possibility to see them if they occur.
I've been living in the country for many years, norther than Montreal, maybe seen them 10 or 12 times, and you never forget that. |

No, it is not likely you will see the northern lights from Montreal. The first reason is because Montreal is south of the aurora band - there is a strip of area across Canada that is at a good latitude to see the northern lights, and Montreal is outside of it. It doesn't mean that you could never see them there, just that it is very unlikely. The second reason it is unlikely you would see them there is because there is too much light - too many street lights, building lights, etc. It has to be dark to see the aurora. |

With all this urban pollution?!?
Are you kidding me???
Not to mention all those damn street lights, lol! |

I've seen them then =)

Yes it is, but you need the right weather conditions and it is usually easier to see them in rural areas, away from the city lights...but remember they are RARE.
For all of the skeptics. I have seen the Northern lights in Kingston, ON, which is farther south than Montreal, so although RARE it is possible to see them there too. People in the northern States have also reported seeing the northern lights. You will not see the "amazing" northern lights with all of the colours like you see in picture or way up north....but it is possible, under the right conditions , to see dim northern lights dancing across the sky. |
