Your question is very broad and in the very broad sense of the matter - yes it is safe to immigrate and indeed there are a lot of Muslims already here.

Will you get arrested by mistake? If you mean is it possible - yes it is possible. It is also possible for a born and bred here Canadian to get mistakenly arrested and it has happened. Does it happen often? No!

Canadian laws are based on a secular code, not a religious code and all new Canadians are expected to put the laws of this country above the laws of the country they are leaving. Freedom of religion is guaranteed here. You are free to worship any deity you want but that worship may not include human sacrifices. That means, for example, that if your sister, who was promised for marriage to someone in the old country, wants to marry someone else, you do not have the right to kill her or her boyfriend, as one Muslim family did in Calgary back in the late 1980's. If you handle what you perceive as an insult or a lack of respect with this type of extreme solution, you will be arrested and go to jail no matter what religion you belong to. That is not construed as an anti-Muslim incident; it is an anti Canadian law incident.

If your question is due to the terrorist threats, is it possible to be mistaken for a terrorist - yes. Is it likely? Not if you are not one and not if you do not behave like one or spend your time and money on those who are. But in this world, anything is possible but that does not make it probable. It is possible that I - a 64 year old, somewhat crippled lady of no particular religion or politics - could be arrested as a terrorist by mistake. But it is highly improbable and I shall not worry about such a thing until and unless I have to.

The social and moral rules of any foreign country that you chose to move to will be different than those where you are now. You will be expected to respect the rights of others, even if you personally do not like or approve of them. Things like - women have equal rights. We dress the way we choose, we marry who we choose, we do the type of work we choose. As long as we do not break the law of the land, you will be expected to accept that.

If you want to come and change Canada into a version of what you are leaving, then don't come. Do you think you could adapt to all of this? Then come on over and give it a try if you want to. :o)

Yes it is safe to immigrate to Canada, especially Toronto. Also start watching "Little Mosque on the Prairie", it will help your English for when you immigrate.

Yes, it is perfectly safe for a Muslim to live in Canada. But I would strongly suggest that you work at improving your English or you will fail the mandatory English language test that is given to all immigrants.

petey
of course, what s dumb question, u should actually learn about a country before u emigrate there...

Most of the big cities in Canada have fairly large Muslim populations, and you won't be harassed by the police or anything. Unfortunately, you will still find people who are racists like you will anywhere, but in general Canada is a very diverse country where people of all cultures and religions are welcomed and valued. I'm a Christian, and I would love it if more Muslims would immigrate to Canada because you guys share the same moral standards that I do. I should tell you, though, that in parts of Canada there is a lot of immorality and immodesty and people drink a lot of alcohol, and there are people who don't understand why someone would want to live a moral and religious lifestyle. But I've found that that once people get to know you they respect your beliefs and sometimes they even want to learn more about your religion. So I think you'll have a good experience if you decide to move here. Good luck!

Yes but PLEASE don't . We have to many now.

What a dumb question! Canada is probably the most tolerant and peaceful country on earth. We have more immigrants than just about any other country.

Alright...best place for a Muslim in Canada by my opinion is Surrey British Columbia. We're so multi cultural here...no one gets arrested for they're race or religion...we're not that type of country. Most the people who like in surrey are middle eastern...Mostly Indian. Theres also a large middle eastern population in Toronto. It is very safe here in Canada...After all we are the country with the highest quality of life, out of every country existent. We offer many opportunity's for immigrants and its a great life here as long as you can endure our weather...One moment is freezing cold...the next its fricking hot. Good luck, Eh?

pissy_old_lady
I agree with David C...there is a lot of prejudices here ...especially in the city..you wouldn't want that...stay home...we need our jobs...Canadian born people are starting to become the minority here.

Not necessarily. You will probably be safe.

However, don't expect a lot of friendliness. Us actual Canadians are very distant towards immigrants that come here, particularly those who look like Muslims. You won't be abused necessarily; just don't expect to be loved by everyone.
