Some of us do and some of us don't. I try to be selective and use it when talking to Americans - they expect it and if they come to my country to spend their tourist dollars, why disappoint them.
It can mean a lot of things.
1. Nice weather, eh? = nice weather, don't you think.
2. Beautiful hairdo, eh? = beautiful hairdo and if you do not agree I will deck you.
3. You are coming to Ottawa on your trip, eh? = You are coming to Ottawa on your trip. aren't you?
Etc etc etc
Pyar: Canadians have a great sense of humour. So all American's with a sense of humour, Come on Up! Pyar, stay home, eh! (see meaning #2) LMAO |

Yes, but of course not all sentences. Many countries tack on an extra word at the end of sentences, for example:
Nice day, yes?
Nice day, no?
Nice day, huh?
Nice day, what?
Nice day, hey?
Nice day, eh?
I suspect your country uses one of those. |

Americans: "Those are some pretty nice shoes, huh?"
Canadians: "Those are some pretty nice shoes, eh?" It's a casual way to end a sentence it's not used as extensively as you might think. I don't see what all the fuss is about.. |

LOL no we do not finish EVERYTHING with Eh, Only somethings when we are asking a Question, and they dont answer Right away. As you said its only a StereoType. But we do say it just not as offten as people think we do. |

I hear a lot of Americans and Brits say "eh" also, so I don't know why Canadians are always pegged as saying "eh" |

We really do that, at least a little. They exaggerate it on silly television shows. |

we don't LOVE to end sentences with eh....but we do sometimes. as do americans and lots of other cultures when you listen to them talk. i guess canadians just used it a couple extra times and people decided to start making t-shirts and comedy routines about it. i don't know exactly how to describe the "proper" use... but when i say eh it ends sentences like:
"I know, eh!?"
"It's good, eh?"
I guess it's kind of like a short way of saying, "we're in agreement, right?" |

Umm I'm a Canadian and I don't end sentences with 'eh'.
Some do, mostly the old people.
'eh' is just an expression i guess. |
