Although many aspects of the Canadian culture resemble that of America, they are not the same. We are our own country, with our own way of doing things. For example: our governments are not the same, French is our second language not Spanish, our history is closely tied with Britain and the world looks at us as a peaceful and multicultural society. Besides most Canadians don't even have accents.

snowbarbie
No, that's not true - there is a distinct Canadian culture and mind-set.

In reply to those who say that Canadians don't have an accent - to everyone else we have a "Canadian" accent, in the same way that people from the rest of the world have their own accent.

If we stay here in Canada where everyone talks like we do, this is the only place where people think we DON'T have an accent - everybody else does!

In other words, other than where you are from, you will be considered to have an accent.

Americans/Canadians=Both created their own dialects of English after abandoning the actual Anglo standards which is real English.

Candy Supportin Cunucks & Canada
No! we are neibours but we are different in many ways! we have our own tradition, our own history and our own way of life! We are Canadians!

p.s we dont even have funny accents!

BB
No. But we are neighbors so, so yeah many things we do ressemble that which Americans do. But we have our own Culture and History. Most Canadians do not have an accent. Most Canadians take it as an insult when you say there are like Americans. But can you blame us?
