Is it true that my friend from Canada said that their place is too cold that his urine freeze while peeing?

No

I peed outside in holland at -38 degrees and it froze quickly on the ground but not in mid stream

John S
I think someone is what we say in Australia is "coming the raw prawn", or "pulling your leg". Urine will not freeze until it cools below it's freezing point, which is lower than water due to the salt content. This could take several seconds, and you'd get a wet boot anyway.

jack
In Australia we have the opposite problem. It is so hot our pee turns to steam!

jekin
It was so cold where I grew up and we didn't have electricity. We had to melt the coal oil for the lantern before we had light. when we wanted to turn it off at night, we just broke off the flame to turn it out. I never peed outside because my winkie was so small from the cold, I had to warm it up in the house to use it and we used a pot. Then we just banged the pot on a tree stump to break the yellow ice out.

Mutya P
No, that is not true. Because once his urine comes out it's hot.

Old Canadian saying - "Don't eat the yellow snow".

SteveN
The temperature of urine is pretty much body temperature (98F) when it comes out. It would freeze at 32F or below.

What that means is that the urine would have to lose 66 degrees of temperature in the span of about 32 inches (27" if you are short or have a long package).

I can believe that water might freeze almost instantly as it hits the ground and makes contact with other cold materials like ice or very cold metal (which explains why your tongue might stick to an exposed railing in winter), but if it is so cold that urine freezes in "mid-flight", you better not take that little pecker out or you will have an unexpected new sausage-sicle.

As for it being that cold in Canada, I think your friend is exagerating just a bit. If not, have him take a picture of all the yellow snow arches he has made.

Dam that's funny... No he was pulling you're leg... It does freeze but not during mid stream .. if that was the case do you have any idea how many animals who would stuck where they took a leak????...HA-HA

That reminds me of when My son and I went to Disney Land and at our hotel we where the only Canadians.. WOW did i pull a couple of "make up tails" of how we lived.. With the Internet today.. its pretty easy to get an idea of what things are really like anywhere in the world. Yet people don't take the time to do some basic reading.

It gets bloody cold here at times during the winter months. Each Province is different, depends where.

steve w
Only if he does it outside in the winter. Or if he doesn't pay his heat bill.
