Mr. Interesting!
In Ontario, the drinking age is 19. That, you're free and clear for.

As for marijuana, it is illegal. But rare indeed is the person who goes to jail for having a joint or two on them. A few years back is when the issue started coming up. In 2000, the Ontario provincial court struck down the federal law criminalising possession under 30 grams. Medical marijuana became legal in 2002. In 2003, Ontario court strikes down the penalties for possession of small amounts of marijuana. Ontario Court of Appeal went on to bring the laws in line and emphasise that marijuana possession is illegal; Supreme Court of Canada goes on to make that eminently clear in R. v. Caine & R. v. Malmo-Levine (also in 2003), where the SCC explicitly stated that it was illegal. However, I have anecdotal evidence that many police officers overlook marijuana possession altogether, and only tend to pursue such charges for drug dealers or those who are just belligerent. Rarely does a small possession case ever enter the system to the point of the courts.

That being said, DON'T DO IT. Obey the letter of the law of a country you're visiting, don't count on getting lenient treatment from the police based on word of mouth and rumour.
And those of you that live in Canada, same advice. If you're not a fan of the law, write to your MP and vote Liberal.

As for you, if you come here, do enjoy Niagara Falls. At very least, you can legally drink here if you're 19+. Virginia Beach is warmer, though.

Marijuana is ilegal in Canada. Drinking age is 19 in all provinces except Quebec and Alberta.

Marijuana is ILLEGAL.
Drinking age is 18-19.

.....
depending on which province your going too then the drinking age is either 18 or 19 and pot is illegal, but we don't get thrown into jail if we get caught with it but it also depends on how much you got

The drinking age is 19. Marijauana is not legal in Canada. Although your Doctor can perscribe it for medical reasons.

NO weed is not legal in Canada,
And the drinking age is 19, NOT 18

tuppenybitz
i don't know where you Americans get your info about pot being legal in Canada because it it NOT

drinking age is 19 in most provinces

Mark B
Yes, their drinking age is like 18 in Quebec and 19 in all the other provinces.

nerkaman
18 and 19 for drinking and pot laws are similar to Oregon and Alaska, illegal but nobody gets in trouble for a joint or two unless it is an "add-on" to some other law breaking. We just had 10,000 people at a smoke-in in downtown Vancouver and not a single arrest! Don't do something stupid, like blowin' smoke in a cop's face or some such and you likely won't have a problem anywhere in Canada with less than an ounce.

From what I've been told the drinking age in Canada is 18...and I think, but I'm not sure, that marijuana is legal...but it's probably something you should look up...anyways, I'd choose the place that sounds most fun...make sure you go somewhere you aren't bored...and hopefully don't get in trouble and arrested for stupid stuff...seriously..
