Is there a passenger train service between Calgary and Vancouver?

And between Calgary and Toronto?

Don't listen to these people suggesting VIA runs between Vancouver and Calgary. Via Rail's 'Canadian' route runs between Toronto and Vancouver via Edmonton, not Calgary. The route between Calgary and Vancouver was cancelled many many years ago.

There is no regular passenger train running out of Calgary to anywhere. However if you are a rich traveller, there is a luxury tourist train called the Rocky Mountaineer that goes between Vancouver and Calgary.

Despite what Grand Pa may suggest, Via Rail does not offer service between Calgary and Vancouver -- and it certainly isn't daily service, either. You would be able to take "The Canadian" from Edmonton to Vancouver, about 3 times each week. The train leaves Edmonton at 8:55am and arrives in Vancouver at 7:50am the next day.

The regular, undiscounted adult fare in "Comfort" class is $324.36, taxes included.

EDIT: Easyplex is right on the money -- Judi B may have taken VIA Rail from Vancouver to Calgary at some point in her life but there is no regular passenger service between Calgary, Banff and Vancouver.

Easiplex is correct, the only train service between Calgary and Vancouver for passengers is the Rocky Mountaineer rail tour and it takes two days as there is a stop in Kamloops overnight. VIA DOES NOT offer service between Calgary and Vancouver

You'll probably need to use Greyhound.

Or...

consider renting a car.

Yes, there is passenger train service between BOTH Calgary and Vancouver, AND between Calgary and Toronto. The information about each is online - just put in train service in Canada and the website will come up. I am a Canadian and I have travelled from Calgary to both Vancouver and Toronto by train. The trip to Vancouver through the Rocky Mountains is amazing, but plan to sleep through the trip to Toronto which is mostly flat, boring prairie!
