There is no employer anywhere in Canada who can hire someone with no SIN. You need it to file taxes, etc, and they need it to report your status as an employee, to report that they're paying their portion of the employer-deductions and to give you your T4 every year.
It's easy to get one. Just call any federal government office and ask. For that matter, your school probably has application forms.
In order to be eligible to work in Canada or to apply for a job in Canada, you need an SIN and to be either a citizen, a landed immigrant or in possession of a valid work permit. |

Not legally. Apply to Service Canada to get one. Its no big deal. |

Only if you can find someone that will pay you "under the table". Get a SIN card - it'll make getting any job alot easier and it's just filling out some forms and sending them in. |

you need a sin card or number, if not you legally can not be hired |

Not legally. Construction companies, small restaurants/bars, etc. are known for hiring "under the table". This means you get paid without paying tax - not legal but a lot of people do it. I got my sin card at 14, so you should be able to get one. Call 1800 -OCANADA and ask for sin card information. They'll help you get a card. |

not legally, no
16 year-olds are generally classed as adults for work, other than in bars and the sex industry. |

Of course about 20% of the Toronto work force work without a SIN number. Be prepared to work construction, or in a restaurant. On the other hand, a SIN number is yours for the asking , available for sale in any downtown bar. |
