Is there anywhere in the GTA region of Ontario where I can go to see a clear dark sky with tonnes of stars?

I live in Mississauga, Ontario. I wanted to go out this summer with a few friends to have a night of stargazing. Any ideas? Hopefully it's not anywhere too far. A few hours driving is okay. There's light pollution everywhere though =

Anywhere north of the city - you need to get away from the city lights/street lights.

When I was younger, we had a cottage out near Peterborough, but on the lake, and the stars were amazing.

Try going on top of the escarpment, if you go to Halton Hills you can see lots of stars and there is a small observatory up there too

Except for "Robert S" you would be making quite a trip, I used to work at the McMicheal in Kleinburg, if you go there or just north on old HWY 27 it is pretty good, but once you get much past King City or Orangeville is a good place too.

Explorer
once you get past Cambridge you should see lots of stars.
May i suggest grand bend to the west, or Orillia to the north.

Actually, a few hours drive is more than enough to see stars. Any direction will be fine.

Catch a boat into lake ontario and go just far enough that the city lights are over the horizon and boom - the stars turn on.

The best site is the dark sky reserve in Muskoka:
