Yes, in 2011 all of canada is going to magically revert to 1991. Computers and ipods will vanish in a puff of smoke and all of our mp3s will mysteriously turn into Ace of Base cassette tapes.
Right. I THINK what you may be referring to is a magnetic pole shift. One may happen in 2012, and if it does, it has the potential to mess with technology. It only happens once every 10,000 years, though, not every 11. (If something really happened every 11 years, don't you think we'd have a solution to it by now?) Its like the y2k scare. I don't think it'll actually be an issue. |

No, there is no significant chance of this happening. If the rays come every 11 years then they would have affected Canada every 11 years and such events have never happened.
I believe that the rays affect people......just listen to a politician. |

We won't know when it happens. The mystery rays will also wipe our memories and make us perpetually happy and polite so we won't know what happened and we won't care. It's why Canadians are always so polite. |

Firstly, rays from the sun and the magnetic north pole are two totally different energy concepts. As far as the solar rays go, if there were any 'special' rays, which I have not heard about, they would be more pertinent to the tropical and equatorial nations, as these are more exposed to solar rays than Canada.
I'd check out a rumor like that before I would believe it- and to the best of my knowledge, there is nothing predicted for 2011 - however, in 2010 the Winter Olympics will be held in Canada. Now that's an event that should create all sorts of energy! |

There is a solar magnetic maximum every 11 years. And every 11 years someone tries to get a few minutes of fame by saying disaster will happen. And every 11 years, Canada has a few more power outages than normal and life goes on.
No more of a real threat than the Y2K bug was. |
