"Hi"...it sure is and I've been there many times .As the largest city in the Northwest Territories, Yellowknife is the hub for mining, industry, transportation, communications, education, health, tourism, commerce, and government activity in the territory.

The major employers in Yellowknife include: the Territorial Government, the Federal Government, Diavik Diamond Mines Inc. ,Harry Winston Diamond Corporation, BHP Billiton, First Air, NorthwesTel, RTL Robinson Trucking, and the City of Yellowknifeand the average and I say average annual income is $112.000 cdn!

Yellowknife has a semi-arid subarctic climate and averages less than 300 mm (12 in) of precipitation annually, as the city lies in the rain shadow of mountain ranges to the west and it get's very cold in the winter with temperatures well below zero.

While isolated geographically,it has a modern transportation system. The Yellowknife Airport is the busiest airport in northern Canada, having 70,699 aircraft movements in 2007, and handling over 400,000 passenger and 30,000 tonnes of cargo yearly, which ain't bad.

It's is located on the north shore of Great Slave Lake and features endless summer days and incredible arctic scenery and the city is thriving and modern with lots of amenities, restaurants , bars clubs, swimming pool etc .etc.......it has my endorsement ! *S*

If you like the oudoors and a bit of adventure , you'll love this place, it's better, much better than Alaska !

Hope that helps ya ! *S* (Michael C)

It would be hard and the weather might be a problem. Most of the people who live their are geologists, miners etc. who work up there, or Inuit/First Nations. It is also quite expensive.

If you're into ice- fishing and polar bears :) All jokes aside, its very sparsely populated and hard to develop industry there. Plus a lot of winter

if you like beer - yes

The North is expensive, but salaries are higher. There is a high demand for doctors, nurses, teachers and other skilled professionals. People are very friendly and outgoing, at least they are in the Yukon. I haven't actually been to Yellowknife, but I heard there are a lot of blackflies there in the summer. You might want to check out the Yukon where we don't have a blackfly problem.
