Canada does have regions that are like states in the USA, but they're not called states. We have 10 provinces, and 3 territories. Most of them are a lot bigger than your states in the land area they cover.

Canada does not have states. They are called provinces and territories. There are 10 provinces and 3 territories. The provinces are, from west to east, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. The territories are: Yukon territories, Northwest territories and Nunavut.

And our provinces are much larger than your states. So is Canada, for that matter.

Canada has a federal system like the US but they have provinces (and territories) rather than states. There are 10 provinces, which are Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan. There are three territories (with more limited self government), which are are the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Yukon.

Lydia
We have 10 provinces and three northern territories.

I beleive they are provinces rather than states because they have less power in relation to the federal government than a state does. Australia, like Canada, is part of the Commonwealth but is divided into states. Their states have greater autonomy than the Canadian provinces.

T
No, lucky for us we don't have states, we have provinces and territories...........

therudeafghan
well, if i was in canadia i would be in a state of depression, but that probably doesn't answer your question.

biffnasty
surprisingly...canada, after copying everything else America does.....does not have states....it makes canada feel special that they can call something their own....
