I lived in Toronto for several years. Not much snow in the city itself unless you start going north. Crime depends on the neighborhood but I would agree that it's not as bad as in the U.S.

One great thing that I really miss about Toronto is the multiculturalism. When in "Tdot" or T.O. as it is commonly referred to, you will see a great mixture of people & cultures. You can find just about any type of restaurant. Very different feel from the U.S.

Life in Toronto is different from life in the rest of Canada really. There is simply a completely different atmostphere there. Sometimes it's a good difference, and sometimes it's not. The closest comparison is like NY vs USA. And while it is BLOODY cold right now, don't worry about the depth of the snow......Toronto simply calls in the Canadian Forces when they can't handle it.

Having lived in Canada and the US, I can say that violent crime in MOST parts of Canada (i.e. all except Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver) is lower than in the US. More petty crime tends to be higher (break and enter, stolen cars) in Canada.
Toronto is not a deep-snow place most of the time.
Toronto is expensive. Drug use is rampant. Much of it is very nice, however. There is always something to do.

"Lots of crime". that's hilarious. Google "Toronto crime rates" if you want the real numbers.

Toronto is a great city. For city standards it is: very safe, very clean and has very friendly people (I read a quote from a new yorker in Toronto for a conference that said "I LOVE Toronto. It's just like New York but clean and has friendly people"). Lots to do no matter what you like. Right now they are in a deep freeze, but I don't think there is lots of snow.

i love it!

crime here is MUCH much lower than comparitive US cities, and in fact crime is down by a lot since last year and the year before!

we don't really get deep snow in toronto....outside of the city, sure, but last winter i recall maybe two or three storms where the snow was anything i'd call 'deep'.

Toronto is cold at the moment , but not a lot of snow. Lots of winter festivals going on. Skating outside at city hall. Crime some but not over whelming.

Deep snow, no. When it snows it gets cleared up pretty quickly so there's no huge piles of snow on roads or sidewalks. Plus Toronto gets much less snow then quite a few places in Canada.

Check this great site out with an overview of how Toronto is over the course of a year:

As for crime Toronto does very well. It's the 8th safest large city in Canada overall, and the 5th safest in terms of homicides. Check out this site for 2005 statistics. There were fewer murders in 2006 than in 2005.

For the people telling you that there is no crime in Toronto, that is a lie. There is lot's of crime in Toronto. It's a large city, and in any large city there is crime, and there is no need to compare it to US cities, like many people on here do. There is lower crime in Toronto, and in Canada compared to the US because Canada has a smaller population than the US.

lots of crime,not too much snow,but it's freezing cold.brrrr!
