If you are driving into Canada prior to June 1, 2009 then no you will not need a passport. If you are flying or traveling June 1, 2009 or later yes you will all need passports.

Link below has ID requirements to enter Canada.

Katie W
If you stay on the American side, no.

I don't think so. I think you can cross into Canada from Niagara without a passport. Usually when you're just crossing over from the road like that, especially if it's a tourist destination, you don't need a passport.

Yes; everyone needs a passport to go to Canada.

I think so. If you are walking to Niagara Falls, there is sidewalk on the bridge which you can cross on. If you take the car, I would say probably. When I went to Buffalo, you needed a passport so that you cross the border, so they know that you will be gone for quite sometime. But I would bring the passports with you just in case you need them.

Killer Chick 2
SaskArie is the only one that has the correct answer. You don't need a passport until June 1 2009. Just bring other proof of citizenship like Birth Certificate.

If they are crossing the border into Canada and not just staying on the US side, I'd say yes, especially the l6 years old and possibly the 9 years old. I believe you can "put" the little one on your own passeport. Check with US passport office

The World Traveler
No, you dont need a passport (until June). Currently you just need birth certificates for the 9 and 3 year old, for the 16 year old photo ID and a birth certificate and for adults drivers license and a birth certificate. After June you'll need either a passport or passport card. A passport card is cheaper than a passport and smaller its good for land travel only. Also some state DMVs offer "Adhanced drivers licenses" they're like passport card/drivers license. NY State DMV offers it i dont know about anywhere else though.
