Montreal and Quebec?

I'm planning to visit Montreal and Quebec. How far are they from one another. Can I stay in Montral and visit Quebec or I need to get a hotel in Quebec since they are far from each other? Can I get a tour to see Quebec going from Montreal?

Montreal and Quebec City are just under 300 kilometres (180 miles) from each other. Based on the "legal" speed limit of 100km/h, it would take you just under three hours to get between the two.

As someone else mentioned, Quebec City is very touristy and a bit calmer or more formal than Montreal, and has a very distinct European-style atmosphere to it. Quebec City is the political center of the province of Quebec.

Montreal is a business hub, and as mentioned a "party" city. There are several nightclubs and bars to go to that will sell alcohol to anyone over 18 (legal drinking age) and the bars and clubs close at 3AM on THU-FRI-SAT.

I think there are boat cruises that go between Montreal and Quebec City, but am not sure on that part. There are definitely buses from Greyhound-Voyageur, and the VIA train is available.

If you do not have a rental car, then I would definitely recommend getting a hotel to stay the night in both Quebec City and Montreal if you plan to visit both.

I can only assume that you're referring to Quebec City and not the Province of Quebec, correct?

Come on people!

Get a grip on reality already!

Personally, I would strongly recommend staying in a hotel overnight in both French-Canadian cities otherwise there will be too much traveling involved, agree?

P.S. As far as Quebec City tours are concerned, please check out the third link below...

Quebec and Montreal are two very different cities. When I visited Montreal, I was not prepared for the party atmosphere. They made me have a good time. Quebec was more laid back and conservative. I had a good time "winding down". Spend a couple days in each, and you'll want to go back for more. Try to learn a little or more French.

Montreal to Quebec City is about 270 km or 170 miles.

Hmmm. How far is Portland from Oregon?

Quebec City is about an hour plus or max two hours away from Montreal. You can book a hotel there as there's quite alot of tourists area. I like the town and the crowds hanging out at the cafes drinking their red wines and all. It's really relaxing.

Montreal is IN Quebec!!!! From Montreal to Quebec City is a different question
