In my opinion Toronto is better
The schools are just as good as in Montreal and there are far more job opportunities in Toronto than in Montreal.
Both are very beautiful cities and both offer a lot of diversity and culture.
Montreal is a 'party city' - there are 5 universities in the city, and this city is much smaller than Toronto so there is a high proportion on youth there. It is lively yes but so is Toronto
And I find that you need to speak French in many areas otherwise vendors will not address your needs or acknowledge you - this is what I found when I visited Montreal. I do speak French as well but English is my first language and I am more comfortable speaking this.
Hope this helps... |

Toronto is a much more American city. Not to say it isn't Canadian, but it is more comparable to the giant metropolises in the states than any other Canadian city.
Montreal is fully bi-lingual. If you speak both, even a little, then language is not a barrier.
Personally, as a resident of the Canadian prairies, I have lived in Saskatoon, Edmonton, and Vancouver. My next move will take me either back to Vancouver, or to Montreal. Toronto wasn't even considered. The culture there is just phenominal. |

For an education in cinema, Toronto is where you would want to go. They have a wonderful film school there that many of my friends have attended.
I have been to both places and would prefer Toronto myself.
If you are moving with your careers in mind, then Toronto is the place to go.
Enjoy your move, and welcome to Canada! :) |

I grew up in Vancouver, but currently live in a small town and just visited both cities for the first time this summer. I grew up believing that easterners were rude, unfriendly, bad drivers until I discovered that that simply is not true. I love both cities equally and would love to move to either of them tomorrow if I had the chance.
I travel A LOT and from my travels I found that there's more going on in Montreal: shows, cafes, restaurants, street performances and theatre. I found Toronto to be similar to Vancouver, while Montreal is truly 'unique'.
For which city offers a better opportunity to enhance your education in graphic design and cinema or which city can you make more money, I cannot help you there.
I don't have the skills you have to get a such a great job, but I'm looking at moving to Montreal.

University and rent is cheaper in Montreal. Toronto is a nicer city but the food is awful. |

I would say Toronto. Better shops, downtown, multicultural restaurants and lots more. Condos are very cheap here in Toronto. I have a feeling that Toronto people are nicer (except in some areas Jane and Finch). Plus Toronto has a better waterfront and has more action and concerts (example AC/DC is coming to the Rogers Centre). Sports teams are better here (more) and is a very exquisite place to live! |
