Montreal is livelier than TO - it is a party city but there are lots of nice places to see too - lots of great little places to eat, amazing food. Toronto same thing but on a smaller scale than Montreal - you'll still have a good time, but you won't party as much as in Montreal.

I heard Toronto is boring

Toronto is the financial centre of Canada, but Montreal is probably more interesting for tourists because it's older and has more downtown nightlife. Toronto is still worth visiting, but I would say Montreal 5 nights, Toronto 2.

1st i would like to say that anyone who lives in montreal or toronto and answers this question will be biased. People who live in toronto wil tell you to go there and and people who live in montreal will tell you to go there.
Honestly their both nice cities. I would say spend 5 nights in montreal. But then agin im biased because I live there.
Either way, you won't go wrong.

Montreal has a very nice historic district that nothing in Toronto can match. I would probably choose Montreal because it's more historic, but Toronto has some nice newly renovated museums too.

I would definitely go with Montreal. I have been to both cities multiple times and would choose Montreal any day. Toronto is a very big city so you would have a lot to do and many sites to see. Montreal on the other hand has the big city aura without the big city hassle. Montreal has great nightlife and also transportation is very easy to find and use and the shopping is pretty awesome. Both cities are spectacular and fun but I would lean more towards Montreal.

I'd say it depends on the time of year. Both cities are pretty cold and dreary in the wintertime, although both have a network of underground shopping malls in the downtown core. But in summer, Montreal comes alive in ways that Toronto simply can't match. There are all kinds of outdoor restaurant and cafe terraces, street festivals, shopping streets, parks, and especially the park up on Mount Royal and the park on the islands in the St Lawrence River. Montreal in summer has a special air of joy and excitement, where Toronto remains all business all year.

Both cities suck but I think Toronto sucks less because you don't need to learn French to be served and there is more to see and do in and around Toronto.

You'll see people here tell you that Montreal has a European feel to it, me I've been to Europe and to me it feels like every other North American city smelly and dirty. Ok in the interests of full disclosure I feel the same way about Toronto but they aren't pretending that they are something that they are not.
