Most beautiful sites in Canada????

In a few months I will be travelling all across Canada for 1 year...what are some sites, cities, events etc that I MUST see/do??? We are visiting the east coast for 2 months and then travelling across all the way to BC. I would also love to see a bit of the north. I have a car so I can drive anywhere. I live in Ont right now so I've already seen Niagara Falls and TO tons of times so those are 2 places we don't need to see.
Thanks in advance for you help :)

Start in St. John's, NL and there you must visit Signal Hill and look out across the Atlantic to Ireland. Drive to Cape Spear, the most easterly point in North America. From there back track a few kilometers and see Petty Harbour. You must also drive to Portugal Cove where the ferry docks for Bell Island in Conception Bay. Drive around both sides of Conception Bay and then follow the coastal route around the northern part of the Avalon Peninsula to see magnificant coastal scenery, icebegs (depending on time of year) and whales (also seasonal). As you work your way across the island, check out the sights in many little coves and harbours off the highway and in Terra Nova National Park.

When you get to the west coast of the province drive to Trout River to see the Tablelands which will make you feel like you have entered prehistoric times. Go to Gros Morne National Park for some of the most spectacular scenery in the country. From there head on to Lanse aux Meadows, the site of the Viking settlement in Newfoundland.

Now you can choose to continue your tour in one of two ways - go to St. Barbe on the Northern Peninsula and cross into Labrador on the car ferry and do the Labrador highway to Cartwright, passing the ancient Lanse Amour maritime Archaic Indian burial site and the old Basque whaling community of Red Bay. Then you would take another car ferry to Goose Bay and then drive across Labrador to Labrador City and from there on out of Labrador and into Quebec, coming out to 'civilization' again at Bair Comeau.

If you do the Labrador route it will take about a week from the ferry crossing at St. Barbe to get to Bair Comeau in Quebec. The Cartwright to Goose Bay ferry is overnight, and you have three long stretches of good gravel road - so each stretch of gravel road requires several hours of driving through wilderness - it is quite an adventure, but lots of other people will be doing the same thing.

If you choose not to do Labrador, you will head on to Port aux Basque and cross on the overnight ferry (a great experience)to North Sydney in Nova Scotia. Do the Cabot Trail and a few other trails. Drive down to the AnnapolisValley.

In New Brunswick see Parlee Beach, Buctouche area, and visit the St. John area.

In Quebec go to St. Ann de Beaupre and Quebec City and Montreal.

Those are some of the highlights I can certainly recommnend.

You MUST see the Canadian Rockies!! And if you do, you CANNOT miss Moraine Lake, in the Valley of the Ten Peaks. It is by far the most beautiful place I have ever seen, and I was very lucky to even live and work there for 6 months! They are only open in the summer, from June until October. Its only a 15 minute drive from Lake Louise (which isn't nearly as pretty, by the way!).

The East Coast is absolutely beautiful, no matter where you go. Magnetic Hill in Moncton, NB. PEI is gorgeous, and if you're there in the summertime, try to visit Cavendish beach if the weather permits.. There's a lot of history in Quebec, so if you're interested in that, Quebec City is a good place to go.. Algonquin Park in Ontario is great. If you're from Ontario you may have already been there, but I must suggest it anyhow, incase anyone else reads my answer for places to go! =] If I think of anything else, I'll come back to it. Have fun!

The Canadian Rockies are awesome. From Calgary, Alberta, go west to Banff, then north to Jasper, and then southwest to Kamloops, and on to Vancouver. Take your time and be sure to only travel in daylight. It's all beautiful.

Kananaskis up to Banff over to Lake Louise and north to Jasper. (with a side trip over to Yoho National Park)

That is some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, let alone Canada.

If you like wildlife and beautiful scenery, I would suggest going up the Alaska Highway to Whitehorse. It is breathtakingly beautiful and you will a great deal of wildlife. It is a long trip(about 25 hours of straight driving) though, so you be prepared for that, and make sure you always fuel up when you have a chance. While you're up there, you can also go even further North and go to Dawson City, and then onto the Dempster Highway and up to Inuvik.

I would really recommend seeing the North at least once in a lifetime. It is so vast and untouched and natural. It is also so beautiful and amazing because in the summer, the sun never really goes down. It's like the days never end: there is NOTHING like a Northern summer.

I have lived in almost every province in Canada thanks to the Canadian Armed Forces posting me all over the place.

The most beautiful is by far British Columbia. Amazing prestine lakes, breath taking mountains, incredible ski resorts, the list just goes on n on.

The Okanagn Valley is amazing. Especially Kelowna. The summers are hot, always sunny, rolling orchards and valleys. Tons of fresh fruit markets, winerys, lakes to swim and boat in, and a very very clean city.

In the winter I reccommend visiting the Rocy Mountains of Alberta. OMG what a sight!!

Not far from Jasper is a hidden place called "Rocky Mountain Cabins." You need a 4x4 to drive in, or you can leave your car and the owner will come and get you. The most amazing log cabins, with a owner that cooks full fresh meals three times a day. A very romantic, private gettaway that is just breathtaking.

Ok rant over, hurry up and come to Canada. :)

Coolest city is Montreal. Coolest site is the Canadian rockies in late summer or early fall.

So many beautiful places in Canada... Quebec City is celebrating its 400th anniversary this year, so it will be interesting to visit with lots of activities all year.

I'm not a big city traveller cause I think they all basically look the same! I love to take nice long rural drives. We are in Whistler at the moment but before we settled down here for the winter we took a drive from Vancouver through to Pemberton....MAGIC scenery....ABSOLUTELY MAGIC! Make sure you check out Mt Currie too, its amazing....well I thought so anyways! :) Happy and safe travels!

Shelley
I like " The Valley" in Nova Scotia lots of places to see and beautiful country side.
