Moving to Toronto - Where Should We Live & Why?

My husband is a CBP officer and is being transferred to the Pearson airport for 2-5 years. We have never been to Toronto and are not familiar with the suburbs. Can anyone suggest a good area to live/rent that is dog friendly (we have 3) and children friendly (hopefully soon)? We would also like it to be a place where my husband can drive to/from work and not take public transportation and is about 30 minutes from the airport and are hoping to stay south of Toronto.

Also if anyone knows of a good realtor that deals with rental properties please pass their name onto me. And I would love to hear the pros/cons of the areas. Thanks.

Try to find somewhere in the south Etobicoke or near the Lake as you will be able to walk your dogs along the long system of trails along the lakeshore. There are older neighbourhoods as well as some new developments so you would have your pick. Lots of new condo`s too between Windermere and Royal York on the Lakeshore. You can take the 427 directly up to Airport road.
Most realtors will have listings but check MLS.ca or some of the larger company sites like REMAX, Century 21 or Royal Lepage.

There is nothing south of Toronto, except Lake Ontario!Forget downtown! That is insane!
Too far!
A little west is Etobicoke, a very nice area.
Nice homes, apartments and schools.
Beautiful parks and very Dog friendly!
Much closer to Airport! 15-20 minutes tops!

Royal York & Eglinton area is very nice!
Good luck!

you could live anywhere in the city.....as long as you are reasonable close to the 401 or the Gardnier/QEW I live in the east and it takes me 30 minutes on the 401 to get to the airport.....of course rush hour is different. If you don't want to do that go for

Mississauga...great neighbourhoods
Downtown...not dog friendly unless you can afford a house/townhouse
Beaches...AWESOME...very dog friendly, on the beach and great small town neighbourhood....and right close to the highway

Broadview/Danforth...perfect..huge parks, great dog friendly, nice homes, good mix of people

North York,Toronto (islington/steels area) is a well built neighborhood, with the highest experienced schools in the GTA area.Plus is quite close to the Pearson air port.

Elementary:Gracedale Public School
Secondary: Humber Summit Middle School

(check out: www.tdsb.ca for more info on the schools)
(check out www.mls.ca for more info on the houses there for sale)

If you need any more help on the area contact me any time at:
