Must see/go to tourist attractions in Niagara Falls Canada?

My boyfriend and I are going to Niagara Falls Canada in August. I have been to some websites and looked up things to do and I'm really interested in the Mist of the Maid, some of the theme parks and nature parks, Journey behind the Falls and the helicopter ride. I want to know if there are any places that these websites wouldn't mention like GREAT restaurants, shops, theaters to see a play....things maybe the locals would know.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Oh and we are 18 and 19...no casinos or night clubs.
Additional Details
Money isn't really a concern.. I'm pretty positive I know I'll be getting into some serious spending while I'm there.. I'll have to pick and choose what I want to do THE MOST. Even if they do speak french anywhere near Niagara Falls Canada, I'll be fine. I'm going to France in two weeks.

I'm coming from Cincinnati Ohio and I'm wanting to drive through the rural parts of New York but I don't mind visiting big cities.

lol, they don't speak French in Niagara Falls. The only thing Cheech got right is that Niagara Falls is a pricey tourist town
I'm not sure of the legal drinking age in Ontario, some provinces are 18.

Well, a former Buffalonian resident, I can say there's lots to do and see, the robert moses parkway has a few good tourist places to see, and the food is awesome. the Minolta Building in the American side is awesome, balloon rides and the Niagara falls in American side is awesome at night time to view. It's mostly a tourist attraction but if you like to see the falls all lite up it a wonderful peaceful and nice and quiet i suggest to take the trolly in the parks it's only $1.00 to ride the entire park at night. In August there's the erie County fair it runs from the 13th to 18th depending upon the calender year. they have an array of different events and nightly concert series. Thursdays at the square that's located downtown buffalo, and the concerts are free, starts @ 7 or 7:30pm also, depending upon the show starts time. need more infor check out www.niagarafallscanada.com

As mentioned, skip Journey behind the falls - costs a lot, and is a real let down..
Right beside the actual falls, is Clifton Hill - sort of an uphill theme park, with lots of restaurants, music, wax museums.. lots of young people hanging out.. this is a great place to spen an evening..
Just above the falls is an IMAX theatre that puts on a 45 minute show all about the falls - it's history, the daredevils etc.. and this makes seeing the falls itself a lot more meaningful (in my opinion).
The maid of the mist is great!! And if you like excitement, the jet boat tour is awesome! Basically, you are in a jet boat that takes you through some really rough rapids - you'll be totally soaked, but is a great time! ..
Niagara-on-the-lake... is a really pretty little town nearby... with lots of little boutiques, pubs and restaurants.. and the Shaw festival..there are lots of flowers to see etc.. you might want to take a walk around, but it is expensive..
Port Dalhousie (Dah loo zee) is part of St. Catharines, a nearby city.. it has a port - nice sailboats to look at, a pier to walk out on, nice little beach for strolling.. Also, lots of cheap places to eat and drink.. lots of music.. it is the party area for St. Catharines.. especially on the weekends.
The butterfly conservatory is good and is there are only two in North America, so you might enjoy this..
So, my suggested itinerary... go to the IMAX theatre in the early afternoon (leave your car here, it is cheaper than opposite the falls and is really close).. see the show, then walk down the hill to the falls. Go on the maid of the mist, then hit clifton hill for food, drinks and fun... stroll Niagara on the lake, and/or nearby Port Dalhousie
Hope you have a good trip...
And the whole 'french speaking thing - bunk

Okay, there's tons of good stuff. I'll name of a bunch. The two casinos in Niagara falls, ON (Fallsview is nicer) The Niagara parkway (A roadway that stretches from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario along the river) just driving down it is enough, you'll know what I mean when you do it. If you're into history there is Fort George, Fort Erie, Fort Niagara. There is crazy shopping on the NY side all along Niagara Falls Blvd. If you have time drive to Toronto. I don't know how far you're coming from but the extra hour and a half will be worth it. Go to Niagara-on-the-lake, this is a town at the end of the parkway that has been historically preserved all downtown. You have to stay on the Canadian side though, I love the NY side but it's rough, pretty beaten up part of the country. Yeah I'd drive to Buffalo and cross into Canada there then drive up the parkway to Niagara falls. Trust me I gave you some gold here.

Maid of the mist for sure, I'd skip journey behind the falls and white water walk ( they aren't as good as they may sound ), There's always fun to be had on clifton hill ( haunted houses, wax museums, rides, ripleys believe it or not, Guiness records museum, Kareoke beer tent ) Marineland is the big themepark in Niagara. There's orcas, dolphins, sealions, walrus, belugas, seals, marine shows, rides like dragon mountain coaster and skyscreamer, bear feeding ( sneak in marshmellows ) the bears love them. Drive up River road/Niagara parkway to Niagara on the lake, there's lots to see on the way ( whirlpool, aerocar, floral clock, botanical gardens, butterfly conservatory, vinyards/orchards, Historical battlesites/fort henry. At niagara on the lake every summer there is the shaw festival ( it likely has a website ). It's live theatre. Niagara on the lake is about 15 minute drive from niagara falls. Also see the falls at night, they light them up, there is usually live music and there are fireworks over the falls on friday and sunday nights. Visit Fallsview casino even if you aren't going to go in the actually casino, there is a really cool fountain show in the atrium, especially at night, every half hour i think and a great view of the falls and upper niagara river from the grounds behind the Casino. There is an Imax theatre ( the building shaped like a pyramid, there they show a 3D experience of niagara falls and access to the Daredevils museum ( about all the people crazy enough to have gone over the falls ). The helicopter ride i have never done but i know it's expensive and unless money is REALLY not a concern it's probably overrated, niagara is best experienced right up close ( at table rock and on the maid of the mist ). If you want good shots of niagara from way up, like i mentioned above go behind fallsview casino OR in front of the sheraton on fallsview blvd. there is a great view. The there is always the skylon tower ( not free but a lot less expensive then the helicopter rides ). There are all kinds of neat restaraunts in niagara from the expected hard rock, planet hollywood and rainforest cafe too places like the secret garden adjacent to the oakes garden down by the falls, i love ruby tuesday's on clifton hill ( great patio/view ). there is also a dinner theatre called " Canada eh" which is dinner and a comedy show that makes fun of everything canadian. Finally there is the Fallsview indoor waterpark which is part of 3 different hotels in the clifton hill area but they do sell day passes if you are not a guest of any of those hotels. the hotels are sheraton by the falls, brock skyline and the skyline hotel. Hope that helps
PS they do not speak french in Niagara falls

Cheech is wrong .... We speak English here in Niagara Falls Canada, some may also speak French or many other different languages. We WELCOME guests from all over the world about 14 million a year. Please come and experience one of the most spectacular natural sites in the world.

To begin planning, go to www.niagaraparks.com this is a site that will help you with all the main attractions that you want to see, as well, like others have said, take a trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake, you'll love it! Make sure you see the IMAX movie too.

Shopping you'll get anything from the expensive 'Galleria' shops at the Casino to tourist t-shirt shops and tacky souviners

The helicopter trip is expensive but gives you a great ride. Take the whirlpool-jet boat ride for a wet ride through the rapids too.

For dining and accomidations check out www.niagaraonthelake.com for sites in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Coming up from Ohio there are lots of great places to visit but you'll have to leave the interstate otherwise you'll just pass right by. While in Niagara visit Lewiston, NY and Youngstown both near Niagara Falls NY and go see Fort Niagara.

People who speak multiple language usually have a few more IQ points so they generally don't offend people on a regular basis being a minority themselves. In Niagara Falls there are amazing things to do on both sides. I suggest:
Canadian Side:
Ripley's Belive It Or Not Museum
Maid of the Mist Boat Tour
Butterfly Conservatory
Marine Land

American Side:
Cave of Winds
Hot Air Balloon

Either Side:
Illumination of the Falls
Fireworks

Have fun!

Cheech
DO NOT stay on the Canadian side they are French speaking and abhor Americans.
The food is all fried and cheap on the Canadian side as well. The American side has a couple wonderful parks they can go to and feed the birds. The tour bus drivers are really cool and they know everything and love telling you about it. Bring peanuts for the birds and the restaurants are much, much better ! Tips are the same in NY. The helicopter ride is expensive, so be prepared.
Understand going into the trip it's a tourist town $$$$.
