Algonquin Park by canoe / camping / portage in Ontario is beautiful , you can rent everything you need at an outfitter , go to the north entrance of the park , only 1 in 100 people go through there that go to the park.

Lucky you - Banff is gorgeous!!! I'd recommend you see the CN Tower in Toronto and Niagara Falls. Unfortunately there isn't a great deal to see in between. Lots of flat wheatfields. Winnipeg is a pretty nice city - lots of great restaurants.

Yes all of the above, is good advice, I must add to the list. Some of the prettiest scenery in the world will be on your route through Canada. Northern Ontario is beautiful...lakes, forest hills, rock formations and the wild life. You will most likely see a moose or two, bears, deer, foxes and who knows what else...keep you eyes open and slow down...those critters can jump out in front of you. The mountains in the west are spectacular and breathtaking. A drive through the mountains can take weeks...if you want to cover north to south, east to west but very much worth the time and effort. The prairies can also be a sight, if seen for the first time, one can literally see forever. Watch for the change in the tree line heading west from Toronto it changes drastically, along with the terrain and landscape. Each province has its own beauty and idividualness to share with the traveler. Enjoy...

I drove from Toronto to BC along the Trans-Canada. Great drive!
Sault St. Marie is a beautiful city. It's about 8hrs north of Toronto. Thunder Bay has the Terry Fox memorial, just as you're entering the city. We however didnt' stop in the city.

Algonquin Park is another nice spot.

The drive through Northern Ontario is beautiful. A very unique and picturesque drive. However, once you hit the Manitoba border....it's pedal to the medal, not much to see except wheat fields and flat lands.

We didn't really delve into the towns/cities as we just wanted to get to our destination. Enjoy the drive!

Once you leave Toronto, there's not much up here.
