Waterton National Park is a great place to visit, not very far, lots of things to do, horseback riding, biking, hiking, rafting, camping, etc. Just pack a tent, a couple of warm sleeping bags, your fall outer clothing, and pick one or two activities...horseback riding in the mountain on saturday, river rafting on sunday... |

If you are the camping types, one very different suggestion is Dinosaur Provincial Park. It's absolutely beautiful!
If you go to Jasper, this is a good time of year; the trees are in colour, the elk are rutting, the big horns might be starting to rut.. and with fewer vehicles on the roads, it will be more peaceful. However, having seen the weather forecast for Vancouver for the weekend, my guess is that the roads might suck. It's going ot be cool and wet. |

Waterton is wonderful - I agree on that one!
Kananaskis is a beautiful place to go in the fall as well. The Delta is a gorgeous place to stay. You can do a lot of hiking and such up there. |
