You will need to pass a literacy test at the border. Will this be a problem?

Someone told me they just heard on the 11:00 o'clock news after this weekend (6/22/07) they won't be allowing any Americans into Canada for the next 6 months. Apparently its because so many U.S. citizens are trying to visit Canada before the change in passports take place. It put a huge stress on the immigration computer network or something so they have to stop people from crossing the border until they get it fixed because they are worried that illegal immigrants will try to get out of the U.S. and into Canada

you could try researching travelocity, though it might help to know that its Quebec.

In Quebec go to the St. Joseph's Oratory-it's an unforgettable experience and has a souvenir shop. Very spiritual place if you're into that kinda stuff-be sure to take pictures of the abandoned crutches left by healed people.

Forget about the blocking of american travellers at the border... This is nuts!

Quebec is a big province. Here are things you can do depending on the city you go:

Montreal: Old Montreal (nice area plus visit Body World 2 at the centre des sciences de Montreal - expo about the human body), Jetboating in the Lachine rapids with Saute-Moutons, visit the St-Helene island and view the old fort and go to La Ronde (a small amusement park owned by Six Flags), St-Joseph's Oratory, Musée d'Art Comtemporain, Museum of Fine Arts, ...
Québec City: old city, musée de la civilisation, Parliament, Parc Loisir Val-Cartier (waterpark)
A little farther, in Tadooussac (about 3 hours out of Quebec City): whale watching tours;
quite farther: see the big dams of Quebec at the Manicouagan reservoir (Manic 5 etc.) - not as intertaining for a daughter, but interesting for dad!

- Botanical Gardens
- Biodome
- Olympic Stadium
- St. Joseph's Oratory
- Old Port of Montreal (Caleche horse ride)
- Mount Royal Park
- The "Underground" city (shopping/restaurants)
- La Ronde (Six Flags) amusement park
- Planetarium
- Insectarium
- The "Metro" (Montreal's clean and safe subway)

While you are here, on certain Wednesdays and Saturdays during the summer there are fireworks competitions. Coming up is also the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival.

Quebec City or the province of Quebec?

In Quebec City you have :
Village Vacances Valcartier (water park, so much fun and she can meet people there) : http://www.valcartier.com/default.aspx?LA=EN
Take her shopping on St-Jean Street, the shops are awesome
And if you're there during the month of July, there's the Festival d'été (http://www.infofestival.com/Festival/?module=home&id=1&lang=en-ca). You have to buy a pass ($30 can) but she'll think it's worth it. There's Billy Talent, Alexisonfire, Kanye West, Nickelback, Hinder, and alot of popular French music to discover : Les Cowboys Fringants, Tryo, Pierre Lapointe, etc..

So have a nice trip and enjoy your time in Quebec!
