I think there is a saying that goes something like "If you can't do the time, don't do the crime." No, it is not too much. Hopefully he has learned his lesson. |

He was armed with a knife - hence armed robbery |

3 years is very little...he had a knife...and I'm sure it isn't the first time he's done it....just got caught this time.... |

My my my. That woman's whole life has changed. She'll probably never walk down a street again without checking her back, and jumping every time someone walks too close behind her. Your friend got off easy, he's only got 3 years at most to get through, his victim will feel it the rest of her life. |

a bit too much? you must be joking!
he had a knife and robbed a poor Innocent woman so he deserves what he got and should have got more
let him sit and stew, how would he feel if it was his mother or sister?
what a coward! |

he robbed the person (or I'm assuming he tried to) and he was armed with a knife -- hence, armed robbery.
i think 3 years sounds good for robbery. if it was me who decided it, for armed robbery i'de give him 4 |

We'll did he rob the women b/c he needed the money to buy food? If so, we'll then his got free food and lodging and doesn't need to worry about that for 3 years. Did he rob her b/c he needed the money for drugs? If so we'll then he can quit while in prison...it will do him good. |

3 years means a Federal Prison. Hope he likes being submissive. Inmates don't like cowardly crime-- that could have been their wife or mother. He'll come out a different "man". |

Unfortunately that means he'll be out in about 18 months. What a sad system we have. He should be in for the entire 3 years and a few more on top of that. |

no its not a bit too much !
He used a knife to rip a purse he was robbing women !!! DO you think a month would teach this crook a lesson .I think not ...if these crimes were just a slap these typr of people would keep doing it again and again .

Actually, I think you're fairly lucky he didn't get eight.
What happens if you bring a gun to a bank robbery and claim "Oh, oh I didn't bring it meaning to shoot anyone, just to make myself look tough!"
It was theft - a weapon was involved in the theft - it is armed robbery. |

No it is not too much. There are consequences to his actions and to me he got a very lenient sentence. He'd have gotten alot more if I was the judge. I'd have thrown the book at him for using a knife to threaten his innocent victim.
I'm assuming you are from the younger generation who think there are no consequences for the choices they make. Grow up, you're not young offenders anymore and you do the crime, as an adult you also do the time. |
