New smoking By-law?

What do you fellow Ontarioans think about the new smoking by-law?
Additional Details
As far as I'm concerned this is no longer a democracy ...I have paid for my own health care when I pay taxes on smokes. I respect the rights of non-smokers, why can't I have the same respect?

I like it; it was time to stop smokers polluting the air non-smokers breathe.
We DO live in a democracy and in a democracy, the majority rules; there are far more non-smokers than smokers. The tax paid on tobacco products doesn't come close to covering the medical costs involved in treating diseases caused by smokers to both non-smokers and smokers.
Non-smokers have suffered far too long, breathing second-hand smoke; the change was long overdue.
Hmm, `gippy' wants some proof that second-hand smoke is responsible for killing people! Two words: Heather Crowe. You don't get lung cancer by `drinking like a fish' or because you `ate out of boxes.' Second-hand smoke is a major cause of lung cancer.
Why are smokers in such denial? Cigarettes are the only product, if used as directed, will kill you. There is absolutely no benefit to be gained from smoking cigarettes; certainly none for those of us who have reeked of smoke (clothes, hair .. ) after being exposed to second-hand smoke.

I dislike it, it should be up to the owner of any establishment to allow smoking or not to allow smoking.
The government is not worried about the people but the cost of the health care.
We are adults, let us make our own decisions.
The bar owners are going to broke but who cares as long as the government can mandate and control the people.

Smokers have rights, the right to smoke outside. Best thing Ontario has done in along time. Finally I can eat or drink without coming home and smelling like a dirty ashtray

I live in Waterloo, which has been smoke-free since January 2001. We were the first area to go smoke-free. It's pretty great, actually. You get used to it. It's amazing how much a difference it makes going into restaurants and not smelling smoke. I guess I didn't really know much about the Ontario-wide ban until i read it because it didn't change anything around here. But I'm glad that now wherever I go it'll be the same. It's a good way to combat second-hand smoke and the fact that it can also be fatal.

I LOVE IT!

This is about respecting the lungs of everybody.

I should be able to go to anywhere without having to worry about somebody's smoking damaging my health!

Detective Emil
Ahh nothing because it is still legal in New York.

I live in Ontario and I am a smoker. I don't really mind the new law. What I don't like is the fact that I now have have to leave works property and smoke on the sidewalk. I think that's a little to far! I gave up the smokers room we used to have, I gave up the resturants and bars to be smoke free. But know I getr kicked to the curb (litterally) because I can no longer smoke ANYWHERE on my works property. (this includes my car) Now I have strangers coming up to me on the side walk and give me snickers or sneers.
My mother died of cancer, first breast cancer then spread to bone cancer. yes ahe smoked BUT 90% of her meds were not covered. thank god she had a health plan @ her work. So where are my taxes going when I buy my smokes????????
Anyway.
have a good day
