Niagara for outdoor stuff - the falls, there's wineries around there, fruit orchards (in the fall), nice bike ride from Niagara to Niagara-on-the-Lake. Plus casinos, tacky souvenirs, wax museums.

Toronto for neighbourhoods and indoor stuff - Chinatown, Greektown, Indiatown, Little Italy, Kensington Market, Harbourfront, street festivals everywhere, theatres, cheap computer parts, Blue Jays, outdoor hockey (in winter).

All depends on what you're into.

I think you only need one day in Niagara Falls unless yo uwant to blow all ur time at the casino lol

I vote to split.
Its nice and worth visiting, but I doubt you could find a weeks worth of interesting things to do in Niagara Falls.

Oh, split for sure. You won't have time in just a week to do 1/3 of what you can do. Niagara has all kinds of cool things *yes they are "touristy" but you're a tourist right?*
and T.O. is just too cool. The shops, the museums..what can I say. I've been going every year for the last eight and I wouldn't want to vacation anywhere else. Even the pain in the butt process of getting a passport isn't going to stop me. I'd be Canadian if they'd could get it warmer up there!

Split!!!!!
The Niagara and American Falls are beautiful, but Toronto is one cool city!!!!!

Niagara is a bit too kitsch-ish for me, and I feel that 2 days would be more than sufficient.

Toronto, on the other hand, has many good restaurants, private theatres with rare foreign movies, shops, museums... and I could live there for a year or more!!!!

Split - two days in Niagara would be enough, making sure you see both the US and Canadian sides if possible. We stayed at the Marriott Fallsview on the Canadian side, and it was excellent - make sure you ask for a room with a view of the falls though, and it will be a great view.

Toronto is well worth seeing. The CN Tower is worth a visit for great views and a pretty good (although expensive) restaurant. It's a pleasant city to walk around, and I can recommend the Royal York Hotel which is ideally located and very plush, if you can get a good rate.
